This in not for me. My sister has a friend who has about 5 cats and a dog. They are all rescues, but all but one of the cats go outside. They all have fleas. Is there any safe way to prevent/get rid of fleas on animals and in house if the animals continue to go outside?

Applying flea treatment to the pets, spraying the house and yard periodically, routinely cleaning their bedding and anything/anywhere else they spend time are the only things you can do. Technically there is no absolute 'safe' way - pesticides are what they are.

A few members on this site use harmless nematodes in their yard to eradicate fleas, and they don't use flea treatments on their pets. So, something else to consider.

FeebysOwner FeebysOwner thank you for the links, I looked at the information on both. I am passing them along to my sister and she can tell her friend about them. If it were me, I would try the beneficial nematodes, but who knows what these people might do.

I'm on year two (nematodes applied the spring of 2023) and I'm sold on it. The problem would be if the cats stray out of the yard, they could easily pick up fleas that way. If your sisters friends cats stay in a fenced off area and don't roam, it could potentially be very helpful. At this point, she might want to consider bombing the house if the problem has gotten bad.
I got mine off of Amazon, and I also really recommend getting the sprayer attachment they suggest. It made the application very easy. :)

Thanks! I have passed the information along, and have no idea what this friend of my sister might do. All but one are indoor/outdoor cats and they have a dog. My sister was telling me about the fleas so I thought I would see if anyone had experience with anything non chemical.
