I will get some updated video of him. I still wonder if I should try to trap him and get him to the vet - but if I find a house - I will have to trap him then.
I love this boy and wish I could do more for him.
and yes, I’ve had the catio open for him but he hasn’t gone out in it yet. He’s really a cautious boy which is probably why he has lived as long as he has. He was at least 3 when he showed up at my old house 4 years ago.

Depending on "everything," you might want to consider his vet visit and boarding him at the vet when you move. That way he'd be monitored and out of the chaos of the move. Just a thought.
He's doing really well. He seems to be a solitary cat who is comfortable with his own company. He's safe, comfortable, eating well, and as far as we know, healthy. And he's loved. So not to worry. Oscar is living the life

OMG - I can never board him. Right now he is 80 feet from my house and he is happy. The one time I had him in a separate room in my house - he didn’t move for 4 days - didn’t move and didn’t eat. He would be dangerous boarded and also traumatized. He’s an extremely feral cat. You cannot put him in a commercial and be safe. He was backed up in a corner for the 4 days I had him and despite trying every kind of tempting food - he didn’t move.
Yes, I remember. Thought he might have acclimatized a bit, being in his new abode. But understood!

It's not impossible. It took about 2 years for feral mom 2 locations ago to trust me even a tiny bit.

Actually not yet. It is on my list- have had a gazillion things going on and not near the time to read I'd like. I can borrow it from Hoopla after midnight, so will do that
I just checked, and I can get it on Hoopla too.
I'm reading one book now, and have another borrowed to read after that.
But after those 2, I'm going to borrow and read One Ruby Button.
I have it downloaded!

It certainly isn't impossible but it requires full time work,many hours each day (&night)..... Unfortunately who has at least 8hrs a day to spend in a confined space ?That's why they are labeled unadoptable,sadly ..... At least Oscar is out of harms way and well fed

Yes, Oscar may be too well fed. Hard to tell with all that floof. I have had the window to the catio open at night and he doesn't go out until it is dark. And, it took him a good two weeks with the window open to go out at all. He is a very cautious cat which is probably why he lasted as long as he did in the wild.
I will post a video and picture later so you can see him in his house and going out the window. I am still looking to move and figure that will be a nightmare trying to trap him but we will worry about that when it comes.

Well, in our case, I certainly didn't have that kind of time, though I would have wished to! What did it in our case was dependable daily food and clean water, gentle, kind talk when we crossed paths, and example, on my part, of dealing with every cat around, that she could clearly see. Time, love, and patience.
