On the 4th of April I had a three year old female spayed and because of a larger incision, was in late pregnancy, I kept her in the recovery crate until April 7th and then released her.  This morning she showed up to feed and to my surprise, she is acting as if she is in heat and she has 3 males trying to mount her.  So, I'm freaking out because I don't want her hurt, incision ripping open, and I didn't think that after being spayed she would go in heat.  Does anyone know what's going on?  Should I be worried?

I hope some better 'experts' then me chime in, but what I think is since it's only been 4 days since she was spayed there are some 'lingering' hormones in her system. It happens all the time with males, so why not females? I suppose there is no way you can give her refuge? Or keep the males away from her? Otherwise I'm sure she'll get back to normal in a few days, but that incision would worry me too. Call the vet that did the surgery and ask his opinion, maybe he's dealt with it before? Good luck, and keep us posted!

I think Di and Bo are correct but I, too would call the vet for an opinion.  If at all possible, can you get her away from the males?  Her incision is too new and  she might be hurt.

Thank you so much for helping her!

I will be taking a couple of more females to the same clinic that I had "Katie" spayed at and I had already planned on asking about this.  And here I thought I was all done watching kitty porn!!
