A HUGE shout out to Elaine, Pam, and Sharon for helping me with the
ferals of Carradoc Hall. We are down 4 cats - they've been spay/neutered.
I spent all day at the clinic, waiting and observing. They did 30 cats roughtly in 4 hours. They are surely doing God's work...
I trapped 2 females prob. never bred, and 2 male kittens. One has injured paw and looks to be a possible to domesticate. Due to the injured paw (broken and not healed right I suspect...he has trouble bending and for
loong time wasn't putting weight on it...)
One female had a VERY hard time with the knock out wake up... we thought we might lose her. She did come round eventually however. Karo syrup and shaking and bundlign for warmth...
She's okay now in her trap, has eaten too...
They go back on release today... I will let them go with some
relief.
All in all, its been an incredible experience. I am hoping my loving supportive BF will help me knock out a drop trap - they aren't hard to build and if I can do it on my birthday (next weekend) I can get even MORE cats done!!
Maybe 8 at one fell swoop. That would help stop the breeding cycle. I still have to get Mama cats that are constantly breeding...
I pulled 3 3 week old kittens out on Friday, and these went FORTUNATELY to a good orphan rescue group. They will be ready for homes at Xmas time, when pets are in demand.
I am SO HAPPY. I had a terrible day at work on Friday and no sleep most of Friday night and was EXHAUSTED by end of Saturday. But, it got DONE.
Yayyyy!!!! And I have my bee box shelter started - one down, 3 more
to build!
I hope by fall to have most of the cats spay and ear tipped. and then
I can concentrate in spring summer on getting the Carradoc Hall management to let me put up a donation box for the care/feeding of ferals and or collect monies for Pets Ltd. a low cost (the only one I know of) spay neuter operation that really deserves more support...
Passing on the help that was given to me and mine...
So all, 4 cats down, 3 kittens rescued... 15-18 to go!!
