I know there may be variance in foods with vague ingredients like "liver" and "meat by-product" as what animal and even what particular part is not clearly defined so it can be different between batches or cans. So colors and smell can shift in those cases. But mold is definitely a universal bad.

Weirdly enough, Delilah is refusing to eat the ones that came in my pro plan box (24 cans, 8 chicken and rice, 8 chicken and vegetable, 8 turkey and rice) but she is eating the ones bought loose (chicken and cheese, chicken, pasta, tomato, and turkey and vegetable). She's also gone through "won't eat" on Fancy Feast flavors too, mostly the ones that come in boxes.

Unfortunately she won't eat a lot of the other foods I want to give her. She can't have fish (even fish oil) and won't eat most shredded foods. And pate is a 4 letter word to her.
