Hello everyone. I am currently working through an issue with my 12 year old cat with very recent vomiting issues. He has been on a diet of fancy feast classics chicken pate and Royal canin gastro for the past 2.5 years. I opened a new 12 pack box of FF on saturday night and put some in his bowl. the next morning he is throwing up. I am fairly certain he didn't eat it until the next morning. He ONLY throws up within 17 minutes of eating. like clockwork it has ranged between 11 and 17 minutes. it's like his stomach immediatley rejects the food.
He keeps his Royal Canin Gastro dry food down fine. we went 48 hours feeding only that (and plenty of water) and he didn't puke once.
Today, i tried two cans of FF turkey and Giblits to see if I just got a bad batch or he had a chicken intolerance develop and he threw it up 17 minutes after eating.

He acts COMPLETELY fine. energetic, happy, strong appetite. I've seen him sick before, and this is not him acting sick.....

I purchased some KOHA rabbit meat pate and introduced that slowly today at 1pm. he has had half a can of it so far, and NO vomiting.

Has anyone else had issues with FF recently? This seems like either a formula change in FF, or a food intolerance he has developed. He was last at the vet 7 months ago for teeth cleaning and wellness exam and checked out fine. Going to get him in next week for another visit to just rule out anything serious.

To be clear, this is not regurgitation. he licks lips, retches, and vomits 11-17 minutes after eating fancy feast. He does not do when when feeding only dry food. I have logged every feeding since sunday and it's stunning how predictable it has been.
Hi, ive recently had this issue with every FF chicken flavor classic pate. How is your cat doing now? Did it turn out to be some sort of allergy. Im currently only feeding my cat beef pate and she has not vomited and now im wondering if my cat developed a chicken allergy.

Yep...my cat has been doing this for years - doesn't seem to matter what particular brand she's eating, although generally always after a serving of canned food - not dry.

One of our cats regurgitates sometimes, too. It helps to feed small meals (lots of them, unfortunately) throughout the day, preferably when she's not worked up about anything.

I sometimes have an issue with my cat throwing up his FF. I'm not sure what is causing it but it always seemed to happen when I feed him the FF and give him a tablespoon of dry food for treats. I stop giving him the dry food and started giving him a probiotic and that seems to have helped so far

Ff is the only food my cat rarely throws up. I was giving her freeze dried chicken treats afterwards but that made her vomit. She can eat orijen treats though very expensive

I just bought 3 cans of FF liver & chicken feast and wish that I'd taken more notice in store ( didn't have my glasses) as I just read the label and first ingredient is wheat gluten, I always thought that first named ingredient was the main one, has this changed?
also these cans are from Thailand and I know that altho' Mitzi has always liked FF salmon pate she will not eat the Thailand one, many reviewers on Amazon say same thing and feel they were duped as there are 2 salmon products/labels which look identical apart from place of manufacture, all the FF cans in my cupboard are US variety ... guess I'll be paying more attention as I'm not buying in bulk until my present hoard is used up, just thought I'd try a change for her

Wow! The ingredients in FF L&C - pate - haven't changed from when I bought it, and wheat gluten isn't even in the ingredients, much less as the first one. However, the grilled version does contain that ingredient as the 4th one, the sliced version has it as the 3rd ingredient, ditto for the gravy lovers version. These are the listed ingredients from Chewy.com.

I have always found the FF pates to be better than some of the other FF. But, that is also the only version Feeby would eat.

many ppl are giving bad reviews and saying that their cats won't eat it, some say that it smells bad when opened ...
I haven't opened mine yet and will probably ditch them since I didn't keep my receipt, no way I'm risking Mitzi having a setback over bad food ...
ingredients here - WHEAT GLUTEN; LAMB LIVER; CHICKEN FRAME; CHICKEN MEAT; POULTRY MEAL; THICKENERS; AMINO ACIDS, MINERALS AND VITAMINS; TUNA; POULTRY OIL; SUGARS.
The L/C pate isn't available here, or I can't find it in stores and too expensive from Amazon

seems very deceptive as labels are identical, only the small print and manufacturing site are changed

Fancy Feast Classic Paté Turkey & Giblets Gourmet Cat Food Review

They are not all bad. It's not given every day. 4x a week cat food does stink!

I 'm not saying that they're all bad, my cat has enjoyed FF for years but it seems that some of their products are offshored for manufacture in Thailand and formula/ingredients are changed and I've never seen wheat gluten as a first ingredient on any other cat food brand I've bought, (not that I usually look when it's a brand I've trusted for years)
ppl who have cats with allergies etc have every right to feel annoyed at this

I notice that the link you provided leads to a site which says DB searches for cat food are suspended ?

Mitzi loves FF, especially the pates, so I'll continue buying as long as it's not the off shored products

DB is an old website I have used for years so I'm not surprised. I got out my reading glasses and double checked that everything's the same
