Merlin77 Merlin77 I finished reading Path of Stars this afternoon. The ending was so sad!! I actually had a hard time reading the last couple of pages because I was crying so much! I loved Gray Wing, he was such a great cat! As I was getting towards the last few chapters, I was holding out hope that Pebble Heart would find a herb that would be able to cure Gray Wing's breathing problems, but I guess that just wasn't meant to be.

Yeah, Path of Stars was so sad! I feel like they made the right choice plot wise-- Grey Wing's death had so much weight and was so emotional.

Right now I'm re-reading Starlight, and I was wondering, do you prefer Leafpool or Squirrelflight?

Starlight is a good one! The New Prophecy was first Warriors series that I read. Leafpool and Squirrelflight are both great cats, but my preference would have to be Leafpool because she is Jayfeather's mother. Which of the two do you prefer?

I want to start on the A Vision of Shadows series next. I'm going to look on ebay and see if I can order the first book The Apprentice's Quest.

Cool! A Vision of Shadows is pretty suspensful, I think it's very fresh and interesting so far.

I think I prefer Squirrelflight, but sometimes she is too arguementive. Leafpool strikes me as more kind and gentle.

I was looking at a list of all of the Warriors books and one of the Super Editions, Moth Flight's Vision, caught my eye. I would love to read more about the cats from the Dawn of the Clans series since I just finished that one. Now I don't know what I want to read next, Moth Flight's Vision or The Apprentice's Quest! I guess I'll just have to order both of them!

Merlin77 Merlin77 I ordered the first two A Vision of Shadows books, The Apprentice's Quest and Thunder and Shadow; I also ordered Moth Flight's Vision. I can't wait to read them! I think I will start with Moth Flight's Vision, since I just finished Dawn of the Clans.

Yeah, starting with Moth Flight's Vision will be better since Dawn of the Clans will be fresher in your head. It's a good book, and Moth Flight has a very fleshed out personality. I hope you enjoy it!

Beautiful!

I don't remember if I asked this before but have you read the other series by Erin Hunter? Like Survivors, Seekers or Bravelands?

Bravelands and Survivors are amazing!

Merlin77 Merlin77 I just finished reading Moth Flight's Vision; I really enjoyed it!! I've always liked the medicine cats a lot, so it was interesting to find out how their special traditions began.
I thought the saddest part was when Micah died. He seemed like such a nice cat. The most exciting part was when Moth Flight, Dust Muzzle, and Spotted Fur escorted the badly injured Wind Runner to the Moonstone so that she could become the first of the leaders to receive her 9 lives. I can see why you like Wind Runner so much, she is such a brave and strong-willed cat!
Who is your favorite of the original five medicine cats? Mine is Pebble Heart; he seems like such a sweet, gentle little cat.

Hmm, I haven't read the Dawn of the Clans books in a while so my memory is fuzzy on everyone, but I think I like Cloud Spots best. I found this quote:

"You may be ill, but that's no excuse to behave as if your brain is full of bees. Of course you'll be better soon. You survived the mountains. You can survive a bit of smoke in your lungs. Besides, it's not just the kits who need you. You're our leader now, don't forget. You have duties to fulfill."

(Cloud Spots talking to Grey Wing)

He gives me comforting vibes and would make a good father with his personality.

I myself recently finished River of Fire, and I was so blown away! I had heard bad reviews on it so I was curious to see if those people were right, but (in my opinion), River of Fire was the best book in A Vision of Shadows yet.

I won't give too many spoilers, but there were some plot points that I thought were very clever and refreshing. I wish the major conflict had more of an impact on the Clans, but other than that the book was so good I didn't want it to end.

Also I finally have a favourite character now! His name is Tree, and I can't tell you too much about him because that would be too spoilery, but let's just say he is a breath of fresh air!

Merlin77 Merlin77 I remember that quote from Cloud Spots. I think Gray Wing was just never really comfortable as a leader. He did want to help everycat, but he didn't necessarily want to be in charge of everyone, and have to make every important decision on his own. That's why during his short time as leader, he always leaned heavily on Tall Shadow, Wind Runner, and Thunder for help.
I do feel that if he had stayed in the mountains with the Tribe, he would have been a strong candidate to become the next Stoneteller. I'm not too sure that he would have been comfortable in that role either, though.

I am going to be starting the A Vision of Shadow series next. I've been reading about the Dawn of the Clans cats for a while now, so I will have to get used to reading about the current Clan cats again. I look forward to finding out about the new character, Tree...he sounds interesting.

Yeah, I see what you mean about Grey Wing. In hindsight, he and Tree are rather similar. They are very level-headed and they are peace-keepers. I think Tree's role in his Clan (I won't spoil what it is) would also suit Grey Wing well... My apologies for being a bit unclear, I don't want to reveal too much. :)

What did you think of Clear Sky? I find that Warriors fans talk about him a lot! (And by talk... I mean argue :flail:). Personally, his development was good and he is an interesting character. I do like reading about him, but I wouldn't want to meet him in real life, you know? But I do find him decent in the first book and the last book. I guess he turned a full circle!

Now that you've mentioned that Tree is kind of like Gray Wing, I am really looking forward to reading about him! Gray Wing is one of my favorites. Now I'm trying to figure out what kind of role Tree will have...I actually have an idea of what it may be, I guess I'll just have to wait and find out. Please, no more clues!:)

I actually like Clear Sky. I have to admit that after the first great battle at four trees, I hated him. But, as I read on and found out what his reasoning was for doing some of the awful things that he did, I was able to forgive him.

He has certainly made quite a few very poor decisions, but I guess what leader doesn't make mistakes...he just seems to make a lot of them! I know that he comes across as kind of mean, and maybe a little over-confident in how he leads his clan(like everything has to be his way, or no way). I think that he truly wants what's best for his clan, and the reason that he's a bit harsh is because he is just so afraid of failure.
Also, I feel that his life experiences have a lot to do with him being the way he is. He has lived through some very horrible life events; Fluttering Bird starving to death when she was a kit because of the lack of food in the mountains, Bright Stream(who was pregnant with his kits) being taken by an eagle while on the journey out of the mountains, etc.

Yea , Clear Sky had a pretty rough past. Maybe if he and Grey Wing had remained closer, the battle wouldn't have happened. I think what Clear Sky needed most was love/friendship (and also stability). He was a cool antagonist.

Speaking of antagonists, who did you find more threatening: One Eye or Slash?

For me it was One Eye--he was sort of unpredictable.

I think Clear Sky maybe subconsciously blamed Gray Wing for what happened to Bright Steam; after that happened, the two of them seemed to slowly drift apart after always being so close when they were younger. I think the fact that Clear Sky didn't have the type of love and friendship in his life that Gray Wing had somewhat hardened him, as well. Most cats were either afraid of Clear Sky, or they disliked him because of his abrasive personality.

One-Eye or Slash, that's a tough choice! I'll have to agree with you about One-Eye; he was very unpredictable, and he seemed a bit meaner than Slash, too. One-Eye was very greedy, and he only cared about himself and maybe his daughter Star Flower.

Ooh I had a great idea for a topic! Which cats do you think would match up with superheroes (like from Marvel/DC)

Lionblaze could be Hulk, because they both have short tempers and have inhuman strength.

Firestar is 100% Captain America.

Ivypool would be Black Widow.

Who would be Thanos...
