About 16 years ago I bought a cat tree from a couple at a cat show. They spoke about all the things they do to make it strong and durable. Indeed, 16 years later and a kid who believes herself a monkey and it is still standing. It's super old and the shelves on it are getting loose from the kid, the carpet is destroyed and stained.
The trees I see in stores generally are made from cheap materials and wobble/feel like they will fall apart immediately.

Does anyone know of a cat tree company that is more sturdy and durable? I'm in Ontario Canada so it needs to be available here.

Is ordering online an option? Etsy . com has lots of sturdy hand made cat furniture available. Just narrow the search down to Canadian sellers.

I have a sturdy Aruba Cat tree. I don't think the company ships.

rubysmama rubysmama might have some Canadian suggestions for you.

Unfortunately, I've never come across any cat trees that seem durable, or worth the money.

That's what I've found too, so I've never bought anything other than 2 level condos, and even those Ruby has managed to knock over on occasion. And since she's loves to scratch carpet, they tend to only last 2 years before I need to replace them.

Highly recommend Cat Tree King. Extremely sturdy and durable, although pricey. We have a couple of their smaller ones.

They go on sale now and then and sell out fast. We had to wait a couple of months for both of ours but was worth it. We have a Maine Coon so she really doesn't fit well on all other cat trees - the platforms are too small and she'd fall off of them.

You'd think someone would be making them, especially with the covid push for pets. I could try to re cover mine...but it looks like it will be a lot of work

Doesn't look like they ship to Canada. Though a popup says "opening soon in Canada and Australia". But no indication of how soon "soon" is.

I agree. I'm sure there's a market for higher end cat trees and furniture here in Canada.

I found one but it's in Ottawa and they don't ship the bigger trees

I've had one of the larger Amarkat trees for very many years, and while I purposely removed part of the top when I was down to one cat (from 3) he still uses it all the time, and it still looks decent. They really do have the largest variety, good prices and ship here (Canada) with no trouble... and No, I don't work for them :) !

It needs to hold up against a 5 year old child in addition to Coal. I'll have to look into what they're made of :)
