In the ongoing saga of Delilah's itch, someone said to me that it could be dry skin or fur. Said person didn't tell me how to figure it out. Vet hasn't said anything in last 2 visits but the depo medrol shot seems to have worn off and despite the prescription food she's back to heavy grooming and nibbling at various spots.

How can you tell if your kitty has dry skin or fur? And what do you do about it?

We do have an appointment at a groomer later this week.

Hi! Sometimes my boy has dandruff but I've never determined if it's because his skin is actually dry. I try and groom him more frequently :)

Hi. Gracie (RIP) had lots of dander, which I believe is one indicator of dry skin. She was also long haired, so she was brushed frequently and that did seem to help some because I was distributing the natural oils in her skin with the brush. I have more recently heard (primarily on this site) about using omega 3 fatty acids, which you can get as a supplement to add to Delilah's food to help with dry skin and therefore relieve some of the itchiness.
