I have a rescue cat, she's been here for several years with our other rescues. Lately she's become very dominant and aggressive. She chases the other cats away from food and bedding. She has been very friendly with these same cats for years, what is her problem?

Hello and welcome to TCS. We probably need more info to attempt to figure out why she's recently become aggressive.

How old, approximately, is the aggressive one? Has there been any other chances in her behaviour? Is she spayed? Are the other rescue cats spayed/neutered?

She is spayed, was at the vet in May. She has always been bossy with the other cats but lately has just gotten even more aggressive and territorial. The cats she was closest too are now not in the friend circle.

All cats are spayed/neutered. She is approximately 6. She has always pictured herself as alpha but had a tolerance and a few favorite friends, not anymore.

Has anything changed in the home? New people? Different schedules?

Is she eating / using the litter box normally? What about the others? Sometimes if a cat isn't feeling well, they can act aggressive. Or another cat can act aggressively towards a sick cat.

Are there any new strays hanging around the home?
