Does he look part Maine Coon?

We adopted Mr. Bob Fluff quite a while back from a shelter. At the time we were told that he was at least two years old and he’d been shaved down and was not listed as a long hair cat. Within months of adopting him he not only grew (and became larger than our full grown, fairly large sized tabby) but also floofed into double the size and grew this cute lion like mane. Some of his features make us believe he’s mixed with something and a few places have suggested he could be part Maine Coon. Some other things that make us think he’s mixed with something are his adorably large tuffed paws, his strange chirps, his body shape which is oddly thick like almost stocky but he’s not fat.

Could be. The overall shape of the head/face looks very similar to one of our MC's but I admit that he's not what most people think of with regards to the breed.

What a nice surprise. Love that lion mane.
The square muzzle is similar to a Maine Coon but the ears aren't quite right. Maine Coons were developed from a natural breed. It's more likely that your cat has a common ancestor with Maine Coons, rather than being descended from a pedigreed cat.

I didn't think Maine Coon when I saw him, I'd have pictured a more leonine face (caveat: I've only seen them online, so my opinion isn't worth much!). Could he be descended from one of the other very large, longhair breeds, like the Siberian or Norwegian Forest cat, maybe?

Whatever his ancestry, he's a seriously handsome boy!
