Problem is he has very large testicles. You've mentioned here that means no... But the ear???
Im trying to get him a trap.. But in the mean time... Im still confused. Thanks!!

Could just be a nick in his ear from fighting. Intact tom cats tend to have a lot of battle scars. And large testicles is a bit of a give away, I think he's probably still intact.

Definitely not ear tipping even if the vet were a klutz. Keep trying to trap him assuming that you have someplace to take him to be fixed right now.

I have seen many ear clipped cats and that looks like a nick to me as well.

I'm late to the party but when my ferals get ear tipped it is cut straight across. Do some places only put a notch in the ear?
