Do cats see colors? And what colors do they see the best?

A friend recently asked if I know which colors cats see the best. She wants to buy toys that will attract her new cat the most.
I've been looking online, and it seems that blue and green might be the ones, but others say grey and yellow.
Does anyone know about this?
Thanks for any information you may have.

I think at this point, it's all speculation but I've heard that animals in general see reds and greens the most vividly, but, maybe not in the way we "see" reds and greens.
Her cat might like things that are striped, or spotted, or that make noises or light up. My cats and dogs alike can't resist a rubber ball that blinks blue, purple, and red when it's bounced!

I'm sure they do see colors but probably not the same way we do. My Yoshi loved bright neon green. He always picked the green mice to play with, we had a bunch so it wasn't a favorite mouse just the color. The only time he bothered my crocheting was when I made a neon green scarf and had to only work on it when he slept. I haven't seen a color preference from a cat before or after.

It's an interesting thought exercise. And totally unnecessary. There are some toys like Yeow bananas, catnip pickle, and catnip mice that are almost universally popular. And I don't think it has anything to do with the color. But you also want some interactive toys like wand toys that involve you and your cat playing together. This will be more interesting for them and more rewarding for the both of you. I like the wands with interchangeable heads. Some cats like ground prey. Others like air prey. And between those who like air prey, some like "Da Bird" and some like "Da Bee". The Cat Dancer is another popular toy. It's boring cardboard brown. But that doesn't stop cats from having a blast with it.

Color is likely an irrelevant factor in the enjoyment a cat gets from its toys.
