So i brought my cat in after her vomiting and panting. She is in congestive heart failure. We always knew this could happen due to her having a heart murmur. She is on diuretics right now and we were told that of course there is no guarantee that this will solve her problem...there's always a chance she could pass at any time. Does anyone have positive experiences with a cat in her situation? Im not trying to get my hopes up but just would like to see some positivity

I don't have personal experience to offer but I highly recommend seeking the opinion of a veterinary cardiology specialist.

She was not treated previously for the murmur? I have a 4 year old with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy who takes a blood pressure and anti clotting med, but no diuretic. While we can't dx your cat, I have heard of cats living longer than "she could pass at any time" if treatment can be secured. I also recommend a veterinary cardiologist if you can find one in your area. My experience is that specialists usually can get to the root of the problem more quickly than a standard vet and so in the long run the cost incurred might actually be less than continuing to let the vet try to figure out a solution.
