Diagnosed with Hodgkin's-like lymphoma

It's been a while since I've been here. My dear Chloe has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's-like lymphoma . I've never experienced this before since Chloe is my first pet. I'm also having a hard time finding information about it, it seems like it's not a common form of cancer.

Has anyone had personal experience with dealing with this or any information concerning this? We luckily got pet insurance for her and I hope her prognosis is good. We got a referral so now we have to wait for the oncologist to call.

I personally do not know anything about Hodgkins-like lymphoma...
That being said I just wanted to say I'm thinking of you and your baby Chloe.

Most of what I found are analytical evaluations of cat with Hodgkins-like lymphoma, but treatment does appear to be a bit different depending on where the lymphoma was identified. I don't know if you want to read through these documents, or if perhaps you have already found them, but I'll share them anyway (see links below).

I found one TCS post - that you probably also found - but it dates back to 2016, doesn't have much information, and the OP has not been active for years, so they will not be able to be a source of information for you.

Aside from this, are you working with an internal med vet while you wait to hear from the oncologist? Is it possible for them to consult with a vet university - they often deal with cases not typically seen in most regular vet practices.

Yes the regular vet looked at the sample of the lymph node. It was sent to a specialist, which is how they got the diagnosis. An internal med vet is just the regular vet right? I'm looking into some studies that are ongoing at UC Davis, I have a few phone calls to make about that. I'm very open to hear any advice on suggestions. The regular vet and specialist office are essentially sister practices. They see everything in the files. The regular vet told me to call or email at any time if I have any questions. After I call UC Davis studies I will ask to see if they can take this case or expedite something.

I'm sorry if my answers are not making sense, everything is going really fast and slow. If anyone has any experience with going through a cancer diagnosis with their cat, please feel free to speak up as well.

So sorry . None of my cats have had that, sending love for you and Chloe.. here are links. Apparently they can survive a long time with or without surgery.

Wizard had gastric lymphoma and survived a few months. Angie had another type and was given convenia which did her in before she had a chance to fight it. Jezibel had oral/eye cancer and she did not last long after enucleation which caused it to spread.

Internal med vets, also called internists, have additional training. After completing the same studies/training as 'regular' vets, they go on to complete an internship, a 3-year internal medicine residency, and then must pass board exams to become certified.

Maybe you don't need that if you are dealing with a vet that is sharing everything with specialists (aka. internists). UC Davis is also a good idea. You sound like you are on the right track.

I see! I will be talking to my regular vet and I’ll ask about all this. I will get a referral to multiple places. Apparently UC Davis isn’t accepting many patients but we can try!
