Good day all! I am thinking of taking my cat to a vet dermatologist for his skin allergies. Has anyone had success with taking there cat there? If yes what was different at the vet dermatologist vs. regular vet in terms of treatment?

Currently my cat is on Royal Canin HP, Essential 6 Spot on and the vet suggested the Allercept Drops/Shots.

So I am wondering how much different with the treatment course be?

Although I've never had to take any of our cats to this type of specialist I did have to take our dog to a veterinary dermatologist. He had an unusual skin condition that was life-threatening and thanks to the specialist he lived 13 more years. 👍

I have never had to take anyone to a vet dermatologist, dogs or cats, but have had to use the services of any other number of veterinary specialists....oncologist, endocrinologists, opthamologists, etc. With any serious or persistent problem I really do recommend a specialist. In all cases with my animals, the issue was diagnosed and treated without the regular vet doing their best to make correct guesses.
