I'm. In great shock
In the early hours of yesterday morning I woke up to use the bathroom and found my 7 years old calico cat delilah flat out on the top of the stairs
I rang the emergency vet, got a cab and the vet had to put get to sleep
Told me she had end stage Congestive heart failure and would have not lived another hour and I did the right thing bringing her in
Not only have I been. Charged a fortune by the out of hours vet plus cab, I've no day eithwr

I'm. Utterley heartbroken
She had no symptoms whatsoever
She was eating running round using tray normally
I was told it's the silent killer and she probably had it months
This is her taken hours before her death
I've had no luck lately
That's 3 cats I've lost in 5 weeks
Remember felix, and Bruce, Bruce was her dad
I'm. Heartbroken
Why. Is this happening to me

I am so sorry for your loss, and triple sorry for the amount of losses you've experienced in such a short time. Three in 5 weeks is absolutely devastating. 😥
I have heard that some forms of heart problems in cats really are silent, and they show no symptoms. I've known cats who acted the same...eating, playing, and acting completely normal and their passing was so sudden and unexpected. There was nothing you could have done to prevent this. :hugs:

I'm so sorry for your loss....for all of your losses. I have no idea why this happens, and why when it does, it seems to come in awful waves. Congestive heart failure is terrible. Did Bruce also have the same condition? It's just so sad. I'm sorry....big hugs through the internet for you from me and my cat crew🤗😓

Thank you all for your kind words
No beuces heart was perfect
In fact all. His tests were normal
Yet he was emaciated
Delilalh was timid but sweet beautiful looking cat loved fresh chicken
No inclination of health issues at all
If she had looked sick before that night, I would have took her to the vets
Sge was lying very still, syruggling to breath with liquid oozing out of her mouth, and her belly had trebled in size literally overnight

Vet said she was full of fliud in the lungs and nothing I could have done
I asked them to save her, sadly was too late
7 years old
I feel so unlikely to have lost 3 in 5 weeks

Only Fred had heart failure, he wasn't related to her and sadly he was put down last June 2023 5 days before his 13 th birthday and only 3 weeks after nala who had cancer aged 11
Si I've lost 7 cats since may 2023

I'm so sorry. I lost a cat to heart failure last year. He didn't show any symptoms at all, except for panting a little after playing in his last few days. Then he suddenly collapsed and was gone.

There's nothing you can do about it and it was the best thing to help Delilah pass peacefully. She knew you were there for her.

:hugs:

My heart goes out to you.....to lose so many in such a short time is utterly devastating.Try to remember that they needed someone in life to help them through this, to be there for them, and you were. They were together in life, and now they are together for eternity. Love is spiritual, so eternal. The bond between you and every one of them will be with you all forever. They live on now through you. Each and every one of them will carry your love in their heart and send back their own until the end of your own life. You gave them everything they ever wanted in life, care, a home, and most importntly your love. In return they gave you a treasure in this world, a cat's love.......
Not one of us is perfect. If vets didn't pick up on CHF, how could you, you who was closer to tehm than anyone? don't beat yourself up, they would never want that for the one they love. Go forward into life and find more love and seek life's beauty. just as you would want for them if you were the first to go. They want no less.
That beautiful little girl did not want to leave you, she had to. "Do not cry because it is over, smile because it ahppened." In time your sadness and grief will turn into gratitude for having each and every one of them in your life. For sharing your life's journey for bringing you such happiness for a while. Don't mar your beautiful memories of them by dwelling on their ends. The happiness they brought into your life is so much more.
I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. right now it is impossible to imagine anything else but yoru grief. but one day the sun will rise again and you'll hear the birds sing. We are here as testament to that, that there is happiness possible in your future, but it is a long time away. So for now, get through each day, in the present, one day at a time........RIP precious Delilah. You will never be forgotten, you will always have a secure place in a loving heart. May the good Lord bless and keep you, until you meet again!

I am so sorry for your loss of Delilah, and for all your losses, recent and past. 3 in five weeks is horrific 💔 Hugs to you ❤ I can't imagine how you feel...

I lost Sybil in 2018 to chf, hcm and a saddle thrombus, she also had crf, the hcm ws never diagnosed until she went into chf from too much fluid for crf. She lived for 4-5 months until the saddle thrombus and had advanced hcm at that point at 17.5 or so. I also lost my Tess years ago from hcm/chf and resulting crf... she lived for 3.5 years though, a relatively normal life after going into chf at 8. But the lasix caused kidney failure, although she was able to take fluids remarkably even with chf. I miss them all so badly still.

I lost them all, 7 cats I think in 24 years or so, more really if I count all the outdoor cats rescued and tnr, but Merlin and Fred in about 3 months, Merlin in March, and will never get over that. He was ok 2 weeks before he was diagnosed and only had some weird breathing briefly which I thought it was possible heart disease the night before he was diagnosed with possible pneumonia, a week later he was gone.

Byron and Angie also from negligence and their deaths were extremely traumatic. Wizard in 2016 from lymphoma and he had crf also, I miss him everyday. Wizard saved me many, many times over and was my guardian forever from the day I trapped him by accident. Merlin saved me after Sybil left and Quinn and Syb saved me after Wizard. Angie and Wizard saved me after Tess left.

I guess since 2016 it was Wizard, Sybil in 2018, then Giorgio and Jezibel in the pandemic 2020-2021, my father in 2021💔. Then Fred in December 2023, and Merlin in March 2024. Byron in 2009, Angie in 2012. Tess was in 2001. So 9 cats since 2001, but most since 2009.

Now all my cats were affected by and being treated for toxoplasmosis which is what Merlin died from due to not being diagnosed or treated for it, and negligence. It has broken my heart losing him.

I hope you find a way to get through this pain and loss ❤🤗 Delilah was a beautiful lh calico like my Sybil ❤ in my profile pic.

Run free sweet Delilah and watch over your mom ❤🌈🐾🕯
