Your present situation sounds so heartwrenching...but remember "It's better to love once than to never love at all"...
I too went through a constant upheavel with my x...he finally got permission to bring his new 5 month old baby to see me...I was in tears (even though it's been four years since we've been apart)...I missed him so much, but, I know that what we had was over and can't recapture something that in reality was not going to work.
Whatever your situation is with Helen right now, for myself, I would suggest let things ride, go with the flow and love her. Love is the best present we can give anyone.
