Dear Belle,
You were a skinny, half grown, half starved little girl frightened out of your wits when we took you in. Now look at you. Almost a year later and you've grown to be quite the young lady. A very elegant, well mannered young lady. Oh, there has been some drama along the way, like the time you slipped your harness and didn't come home until the next morning- just in time for breakfast and none the worse for wear.
When we took you in, you were terrified and wild. We were afraid you'd never be social. But you took food from us from the start and only had to be shown the litter box once. You've been better than we deserve. You stay out of the trash, have learned hands are not toys, never spray and have never missed the litter box even though sometimes I forget to clean it for a couple of days. You aren't picky about food. You're good about waiting for breakfast in the morning (not stepping on my bladder earlier than five minutes before the alarm goes off) and don't make too much mess when you get into the paper towels.
You're a lively cat- there's a reason you're also known as Blackfoot Thunderpaws, Scourge of Tiger Country- just enough we never forget we have a cat in our family. But we'd never forget you. Not ever. The world had turned upside down when you came into our lives. But your companionship helps make it a little less crazy.
