Billy has reached ten months, he's still a lanky teen. He tries so hard to be fierce like Pantera, he even practices growling and yowling ( he saw two toms fighting in front of our building, he's trying to imitate what he saw) with Pantera and Pimenta. They usually just ignore him but sometimes bully him back.

The problem is that he's not really aggressive. He's not afraid: he's absolutely brave, having far more courage than common sense, but he lacks a killer instict- he just likes to play rough (emphasis on play). When he really wants something he turns on the charm, which is what he is actually good at

Those long legs are so cute- he is adorable as ever,he has really grown alot- is he tall?

yes, he is: he's almost the same height and length as Pimenta but nowhere as big- he looks like a toothpick next to Pimenta. Interestingly, he has a thick neck when seen from above: when he was little his neck was nearly the same width as his torso, but now it's more proportional. Even so, his neck is thicker than Pantera or Pimenta. And he is already surprisingly strong for his size and build:he can almost match Pantera for running and Pimenta for jumping (almost, he still has a way to go). But he is still a bit clutsy compared to his two "sisters":clap::runningcat:

I'm intrigued - what colours is he now?

(Doesn't seem they have to be black and white, it's more the markings. My Daisy's dark grey and white.)
His black changed into mottled browns kind of like this photo I found online. I don't have many photos of him because he's a big outdoor baby who won't sit still (He's still scared the hawks will carry him away like when he was a 3 pound kitten, except he's probably too big for that now. Guessing he's around 15 pounds, maybe more with his winter coat)

Oops, accidentally made that sound like he actually got snatched. He never got the chance to fly, thankfully, he's just terrified of the open field near our house and always hides under the bushes/trees as much as possible. When we first found him he was up a tree in the middle of the field and cried until we found him. I've always assumed it's because we have hawks around a lot (they try to scoop up the small ducks too)

Aww,how terrifying for a little baby with predators all around- yrs,I did think you meant it did happen- it's a relief knowing it did not( but easily could have)

How intriguing, I've never heard of a cat changing colour like that.

Some pigment coloration is actually temperature sensitive & will change from kitten to adulthood ' fading kitten sydrome' or specific breeds( like Siamese) and also can be a nutritional deficiency - not that uncommon( especially with black cats)👍

Cats with one Siamese and one black parent commonly have the "rusty" look. (So do I. "Rusty" black hair) A lot of people refer to that as black Siamese. And fever coat kittens have a mottled black-and-white coat that can change to uniform dark color as they grow. But I've never seen a cat change from black to black-and-brown or golden.

Wow, I didn’t know about that! Is black cats’ tendency to go rusty in the sun related to that?

Red pigment is powerful stuff (even though red ink or dye is always the first to fade 😜) - I'm not a redhead, but there were redheads in the family, and it started to show as I went grey.

All my black or tuxedo kitties tended to be a bit rusty in summer. The feline version of getting a tan, maybe!
