Jem Jem , I got my second shot at the end of June. Arm soreness started immediately and lasted for about 2 days. The rest of the symptoms started about 12 hours after the injection. I had mild chills (feeling hot and cold and hot and cold throughout the night), no dizziness but a general sense of weakness, like if I walked fast I might lose my balance, and more fatigued than normal. Overall I'd say my symptoms were mild and I just took it easy for two days and things cleared up afterwards.

From what I heard from my friends, the reactions ranged from absolutely none to feeling really tired and knocked out, i.e. a wide range of reactions and everyone was different.

I think my arm was the sorest the day after, but I also got the vaccine at 6 pm so it didn't have that much time to be sore before bedtime, lol. I wasn't really looking for symptoms so I wasn't paying that much attention, it was more like *moves arm* "ow, why is my arm hurting, oh yeah the vaccine" kind of thing. Not terrible.

I do know someone who was knocked flat for 3 days after both doses. Bad flu-like symptoms. Healthy woman, around 45 years old. That's the worst I've heard of so far. So, as long as you have the rest of the week off you should be safe.

My mom though she had COVID in March or April, but she had an antibody test done and she doesn't have any, so I guess not. . .or if she did she didn't develop antibodies.

The sore arm started that evening and lasted a couple of days. It wasn't terrible, just enough that I knew it was sore. I didn't have any other issues with either shot. When I got my second Moderna shot she told me that I may have some mild flu like symptoms because they were more common with the second shot. I didn't have any symptoms. I even looked it up because I thought maybe the vaccine didn't work. What I found was the majority of people in the trials actually had no symptoms other then soreness at the injection site but people with no symptoms still had the same antibody levels as people who did have symptoms.

Woah, that was fast....I wonder if it's due to possible dehydration (I'm assuming your breast feeding)....I've heard it's hard to keep up with fluids when your feeding. They say you're less likely to have a "bad" sore arm (as well as the other symptoms) if you're hydrated enough...
I think it's very possible! I am breastfeeding, and I was pretty stressed about leaving my baby with my parents, and I don't think I drank enough that day. Based on something I read (possibly even here), I did try to hydrate more before my second shot, and also tried to move my arm more and it wasn't as bad.

Well...I got my first shot. I got the Moderna. The nurses were super nice. I told them that I was nervous about the needle just so my anxiety didn't come across as rude. It's been about an hour since the shot and I can tell my arm feels different. A very mild ache and weak feeling....I'm thinking it'll get worse as time goes on.
My stomach has finally settled...(nerves)
I'm not looking forward to the next couple of days though. My husband almost didn't get the shot with me when he found out it wasn't Pfizer...I didn't know he had a preference. After he was told, he came to my booth and said he wasn't getting it. The nurse asked if I wanted to stop as well, I said no, I'm fine. Then, like 2 minutes later, I look over and my husband is sitting and getting the shot...??? He either felt dumb for refusing when his wife didn't or by me getting it, he felt comfortable getting it.....I'm not asking the reason. ;)
When leaving I said, so you got it anyway??? He just replied, I can get the Pfizer for the second...:confused2:....I'm not getting into it with him. His Dad's a bit of a conspiracy nut. Not over the top, but enough...I'm thinking his Dad is "against" the Moderna... Anyway, he seemed a bit cranky leaving....a little better now though.....He saw a momma squirrel carrying her baby and she stayed in the driveway for a bit. :hugs: He's out cleaning the window wells and came running in to get me to see them. You can't stay cranky when you see that kind of cuteness. He can be quick to get angry....well, more a hissy fit type "anger", but usually, just as quick to calm down....he's a man child.:rolleyes3:
Anyway, I'm not looking forward to the next couple days because if he get's any symptoms...I'm probably going to hear about it...:rolleyes2:
Wish me luck!

Make a pecan pie or some other summer pie with him, and that will keep your arms moving.
HA!! If he's in the kitchen with me...I'LL be the one who's cranky! LOL! I can't cook/bake with others in my "domain". I do plan on making a batch of chocolate chips cookies though...not sure if you saw the other post, but it's national choc chip cookie day!

I drank some electrolyte drinks and have been exercising my arm...it's sore...more than before...but I feel fine, and so does my husband (his arm is sore also). We'll see what tomorrow brings...but I'm optimistic.

I don't understand the preference between Pfizer and Moderna. I guess there is a little higher incidence of flu like symptoms with the second Moderna shot then with the Pfizer but that is pretty inconsequential. When I got mine it was still hard to get an appointment and I was up for either one. If I had a choice I would have gotten Pfizer because it is a three week wait for the second shot versus 4 weeks. I would have been fully vaccinated a week sooner with Pfizer.

I had a choice when I made my appointment, and chose Moderna because it appears to have stronger antibodies in breastmilk.

"About 70% and 50% of samples from Moderna and Pfizer vaccine recipients, respectively, had spike-targeting IgA in the milk, with not much difference in titer values. Moreover, the Moderna vaccine elicited a higher increase in secretory IgA at 93%, which is comparable to about 74% and 54% with the Pfizer and J&J vaccines, respectively. Overall, the level of secretory antibodies induced by vaccination was low with all vaccines, whether measured in absolute terms or compared to post-infection titers.

Among the three vaccines, about a quarter of Moderna vaccine recipients had a higher titer value as compared to the other two vaccines. While 86% of Moderna recipients showed an increase in the antibody titer values, Pfizer and J&J recipients showed a smaller increase of 61%."

But if I could have only gotten Pfizer, I would have been okay with that as well.

Somebody on TikTok started a thing about Pfizer being the "cool" vaccine and Moderna being "for peasants", J&J is the "ghetto" vaccine. Pfizer needs to be kept at a lower temp so only well-equipped clinics can have it, so Moderna is the one they used at smaller clinics and J&J is widely used in places they think people won't come back for a second shot. . .it may have started as a joke but it seems some people are taking it seriously. . .I swear, humans will find anything to be supremacists about :rolleyes2:. Not sure how many actual adults pay attention to TikTok but it all bleeds over into the culture at large eventually.

I decided to look up why Moderna has such a bad rap. I'm sure there are some whack job conspiracies but the first article I read had this to say.....
"Pfizer is a more recognizable name, she says, mostly because of its success marketing previous products including Viagara. But Moderna, a 10-year-old biotech company, is less well-known to Canadians, despite having serious star power in an investment from country superstar Dolly Parton."
Now I'm I the only one who laughed reading that? We like Pfizer better because of Viagra! LOL!

On all seriousness, I think they have a point. Plus, Moderna were first out of the two to have negative side effects publicized when it comes to Myocarditis, which tends to affect young men the most. Pfizer also has possible links to myocarditis...but it didn't get the same amount of coverage...
I also wonder about all the initial information we got about the vaccines, as a whole, Pfizer was "the best" (not my much mind you). I have to wonder if people's mentality and total lack of actual informing themselves...which then spread around...caused the thinking to go from "Pfizer is best" to..."that must mean Moderna is bad"...you know...twisting peoples thinking.

And the thing is, it only takes ONE online post to be shared enough...legit info or not....and boom.

We feel great.....other than we still have gimpy arms, lol! No symptoms overnight last night either. We actually went shopping today, this was my first time into town (shopping) since this whole pandemic started. Hubby goes to town often enough due to his work, but hasn't done much shopping other then a few essentials.
We each got a new pair of work shoes (hubby got 2), a new board game (Carcassonne - it's a strategy game), a Christmas ornament (Castle Grey Scull from He-Man), I got ornaments for each of my nieces (iridescent colorful owls, (one present done!), he got a new charger for his phone, I got 2 puzzles (2000 and 3000 pc) and 2 tops (extra 30% off an already 50% off sale!!!!!), a collar and leash for our kitties to walk them in the yard, and some canned cat food......I'm kinda pooped now!

Jem Jem - I got Carcassonne for my birthday last year. It's pretty fun!

Our governor mandated masks in schools for everyone, which is good. I'm starting to get paranoid about Delta, and it makes me wonder if I need to be more careful.

I think "gimpy" arms are the norm, but glad you didn't have any other reaction.

I was tested a few days ago, my rapid test was negative and my PCR test was negative as well. Now I just have to tackle my severe anxiety.

I have a wedding coming up and I'm a bridesmaid; I'm sure no one will have masks and I won't wear one for the ceremony/pictures but I'm thinking of getting a nice nude colored one to wear at the reception.

Ohio had 1600 new cases and 26 deaths reported today. Almost 99% of those hospitalized are not fully vaccinated, no wonder there is an uptick in vaccinations. We have reached 50% of total population with one shot and 45% fully vaccinated. I think we are close to 70% of adults with at least one shot. They have issued a mask indoor advisory for this part of Ohio. The only reason they didn't issue a mandate is because the legislature has curtailed agency's and the Governor's power to do so.

You should try being over here! Oldies like me get Astrazeneca as there's that blood clotting thing and apparently it's less likely in people over a certain age. Now they're trying to get young people to have it as we're in lockdown and things aren't looking good with Delta, and they don't like it. And people my age and older resent getting what they see as the 'dodgy vac'.
The risk of aquiring thrombocytopenia syndrome through the vaccination is miniscule but on it goes..

Australia and New Zealand handled the pandemic so much better than most countries.
I found myself several times over the last year looking online at property in both countries.
Yes and no.. Australia's great at lockdowns etc to prevent the spread but we're well behind most developed countries when it comes to getting the vaccines out.
