I've tried a few corded models, but we are having trouble (that we have yearly) either earwigs coming in and then we find them in the water basin (ew, new part to the problem). This may have been what gave them worms.

We'd like to put one at the top of the stairs but it must do two things:

- be cordless.
- be able to drink still if no power/battery dies

Let me know your recommendations!

I'm replying as I want to follow this thread. I have never used a cordless water fountain but I'd be interested to hear recommendations from others who have.

Uahpet and Petlibro are two brands that make cordless models. I don't know if either will have water available if you let the battery run out. Usually the water flows through the filter via gravity and the pump brings it back up to the drinking platform. If you let the battery run dry, the water basin would also likely run dry. You could charge these via USB using a USB battery pack. Uahpet sells replacement pumps so you could always keep one charged and simply replace the pump unit when the battery runs out. But I think a USB battery pack would work just fine.

Uahpet:

Petlibro:

Depending on how much you want to spend, the higher end Petlibro Dockstream comes with a wifi connected charging base that could send you notifications when the battery is running low.

I just get a Petlibro Dockstream the other day as the pump on old fountain died. My initial impression of the fountain is about 3 out of 5 stars. As for the cordless mode, it seems to trigger only sometimes when the cats are near. I've yet to see that cat go up and drink but that may be just because it something they aren't familiar yet. A negative I've notice about the Petlbro (in both battery and plugged in modes) is that it doesn't do a good job of pushing stuff like cat hair or cat litter specks if your cat paws the water into the opening for the filter area. So, if you have a cat that paws the water, that kind of defeats the purpose of having a filter if you have to clean off the tray to get rid of the stuff floating and settling.

A big plus of the Petlibro is it can use a regular usb C cord to run. This is the only one that uses only a USB C cord which in case cats chew up cords, you can just use a USB C cord that you probably have around to replace.

I bought a Petkit Eversweet Max a few weeks ago, and I'm super happy with it. It's my third petkit fountain, and my oldest is still holding strong at two and a half years old. The motors are wireless, so the fountain is easy to clean, and, as a result, easy to replace if broken (has been a non-issue for me).

I just looked at some video reviews of the Petkit fountain you have. It looks like a sweet machine. Does it do a good job of directing anything cats might leave (loose cat hair, cat litter specs from dipping paws in water) to the filter? From looks, seems like the Petkit does a better job at that than the Petlibro.

I noticed that unfortunately the chord isn't a standard USB-C cord and looks perhaps cat chewable. Otherwise, I'd probably be reaching for my credit card right now ;). The Petkit looks like a sweet machine (no pun intended).

The filter picks up pretty much any and all pet hair, not had any issues with that :)

the cord isn’t usb-c, but it only really needs a few hours charging every now and then (depends on how you have the water running).

I'm still undecided if I will keep the Petlibro or not. I bought from Amazon and have almost 30 days still to see. At this moment, the Petlibro is running plugged in. I'm going to evaluate in about a week to see how satisfactorily it performs.

In the meantime, I'm going to put the Petkit on my Amazon wishlist. Though the cord isn't USB-C, if I chose to use it plugged in, looks like I can buy protection tubing to protect against cat chewing. That's what I was doing for my old fountain.

Yes, this model has an inbuilt battery. If the battery runs out, water remains in the top reservoir.
Thanks I'll check it out. I live in an area with natural disasters. If the cats can drink during an outage I don't need an extra bowl on the main level of the house.
