I have a 7 days old premature kitten here, born only 39g. He is nursing on mother, i need to help on latching etc. just yesterday i think he is getting a bit more energetic and latch on a bit easier, this morning he is 63g. Can he be overfeeding himself or if he sucks in too much gas he seems to be becoming a bit bloated. what can i do to help?

Hi and welcome to TCS! Sorry no one has responded to your post yet. I have little experience with kittens, and know that soon there will be some members who do who will see your post and have some ideas for you. In the meantime, can you glean anything from this website?

The raise seems decently good, considering.

You can try with Simethicone, the same as for human babies.
2-3 drops twice a day.

Its my recommendation.

I agree with StefanZ StefanZ . It’s terrific the kitten is gaining weight and thriving since he was so premature. Most preemie kittens do not survive.

Thank you for the help, the simethicone worked like magic, the bloating went away in a couple hours. Today the litter is 2 weeks, although 1/2 the size of his other two siblings, this 39g boy is now 118g. I hope he can grow up.
