Xena was up and about about an hour ago. She's about the same as last update. 1pm needs to get here already.
Let us know when you talk to the vet. Hopefully she's in a condition to treat her. I know personally how hard end of life is, especially when you've had the cat your whole life. My thoughts are with you, none of this is easy.Update: Xena was just up and about. She tried pooping with no success and ended up vomiting due to her efforts. She's vomited less today than yesterday, but still. Tomorrow afternoon can't come quick enough. The only good news I have is that she didn't seem quite as wobbly this time as she was up and about. I don't know how to feel anymore I'm entirely drained.
Back from the vet. We're optimistic that Xena has a treatable but severe UTI. She's on an antibiotic and was given an injection for the pain and spasms. We're going to keep a close eye on her for now and see how it goes. The vet said that if she doesn't show improvement by Thursday to call for another appointment.Let us know when you talk to the vet. Utis can really mess with your whole self! Some people even become delirious with them.Back from the vet. We're optimistic that Xena has a treatable but severe UTI. I'm not sure if the vet is exactly right, but I'm hoping she is.
Me too. She's drinking again, at least. We're still working on gentle encouragement to eat. I'm hoping that once the meds take full effect she'll eat a little something as she hasn't really eaten in the last couple of days.Utis can really mess with your whole self! I hope the vet was right too, or at least that she feels comfort from the meds.
Yeah, She's been eating since her vet visit on Tuesday, and she tries to poop, but she can't. Hopefully things get moving soon without any injury to her. Poor things having so many issues. She has to eat to poop. And then it can take a few days to build up enough back pressure to get it all moving again. But yeah, that sounds like a better plan to get her in tomorrow than to wait until next week (if your vet isn't open on the weekend.)
Glad she's still eating a bit. Sounds like she probably had a uti, but maybe it wasn't the only thing wrong?Xena is about the same. Eating a bit, drinking, sleeping and such, but still can't poop. Mom called the vet an hour and a half ago, and we're waiting for a call back from them about what to do next.
Yeah they can be and they're not the only ones. We have a laxitive for xena however my mom is refusing to give it to her until tomorrow. The poor cat hasn't pooped properly for about a week now. I can't go against her either. So I get to sit here and watch Xena suffer more and have another night of interrupted sleep and so on. As soon as everyone's better and I don't have to worry about someone keeling over in the middle of the night, I'm going to sleep for like a week.Glad she's still eating a bit. Hope the vet gets back to you soon. They sound really frustrating
She sounds like she's feeling a bit better! Not hiding is a great sign.Yeah they can be and they're not the only ones. Xena is up moving around now and insisting on being in the living room so she can sit on the cat table and look out the window. Not sure if that's good or bad. Hoping it's a good thing.
Anyways I'm gonna try to relax a bit and watch a show or something for a little while. This is week two of a cat being ill and being worried about them passing away.
Thank you. I've tried that before, and she wouldn't eat it. None of the three seem to like eggs, which knocks down my options on how to help them. We have a laxative from the vet we're giving her once to twice a day.Maybe cook up a little scrambled egg for her. Egg can help get things moving along. This says hairball but it describes egg yolk benefits which come down to about the same thing here: improved motility.
How Best to Manage Hairballs
Yay! Keep it up Xena!Xena pooped some this morning. She seems to be a little more comfortable now.
