The previous owner of my cat assured me he is a ragdoll and that both parents were ragdoll. However, there are no papers and after reading about ragdolls, they all are supposed to have blue eyes, but mine has light green eyes. Just wondering if anyone could tell me what breed he could be?

Your kitty is a black tabby domestic longhair with white. Eyes are green because your kitty isn’t pointed.

He is white with brown patches. Is there a reason he would be called a black tabby?

He’s black tabby, colloquially known as brown tabby. He’s genetically black, with the agouti (tabby) gene, and high white markings from the white spotting gene. You can see the tabby markings on his head and along his spine. Likely mackerel pattern, but hard to say on very high white cats.

The point gene which ragdolls have is recessive, so two ragdolls couldn’t produce a non-pointed cat.

Paperwork is everything, mere assurances mean nothing at all.

As above, he’s a black tabby & white domestic and cannot have 2 pedigree ragdoll parents.

Hopefully you didn’t pay too much for him and depending on circumstances of the purchase could report to trading standards for false advertising however the onus is also on the buyer to do their due diligence when getting a pet.

Your kitty looks more like a wegie Norwegian forest cat for a look alike. He is a dlh, brown tabby bicolor, looks like a harlequin pattern bicolor and mackerel tabby. Some ragdoll breeders do still breed solid and nonpoint ragdolls, they are not accepted by most ragdoll breeders but they register them.
Here is a collage, beautiful kitty 😻

I was going to write, ragdolls are peculiar in this, their eyes arent always blue. There are clanes whom have greenish-blue eyes.

But looking at the pics, I agree with the others. She isnt no point at all. That is why she hasnt blue eyes.

But she is biggish, she has a somewhat triangularish face / muzzle, she is bicolor. If you want her to be a somewhat look alike to a recognized breed, you can always pretend she is an unregistered, pet quality Norwegian Forest Cats.

However you choose to label her, she is a beautie.

ps. I see now Meowmee whom posted while I wrote; has the same impression. A somewhat Norwegian look alike.

He was a surrender. So he was free. So no problem there. He is extremely floppy and extremely affectionate. He likes being right up on top of his favourite hooman. 😻 We don’t mind that he doesn’t fit in as a ragdoll. He is super snuggly with a playful personality.
