Video: There’s been a clicking noise when my cat walks for several months now. She also has a harder time jumping. It is not her nails. Three vets are stumped. The x Ray was normal, no arthritis and the knee cap is not popping out. It’s the left rear leg, seems like maybe the heel is making the noise. Any suggestions?

Definitely consult with an orthopaedic specialist. The most common cause of joint clicking in cats, to my knowledge, is a torn meniscus in the knee, which is generally caused by an overextended, damaged, or torn cruciate ligament (ACL). If it’s definitely her heel, could still be due to meniscus damage lower down in the leg, though to my knowledge, that’s a lot less common.

Could you ask your GP vet to refer you to someone who specialises in joint issues?

Thank you for your reply. A referral to a orthopedic specialist was discussed and probably what I’ll do. It might not be the heel and a acl tear was on my list of possibilities, I’m just second guessing myself because none of the three vets even mentioned that. They manipulated the knees to see if the patella was popping in and out, which is wasn’t. I’m guessing a specialist is going to cost a lot and I was hoping someone might see the video and reassure me I was making the right decisions so thank you.

Hi, I'm having the same problem. If you've seen an orthopedist, could you please share your experience?
