Wow thanks for all the info!
I noticed montmorillinite clay in our cat food and thought it was a useless filler.
Boy was I wrong! Its great for natural detox from all the toxics out there.

Over the past couple of weeks, cheeser cheeser and I have been working on a cat food ingredient chart that anyone can use to find suitable foods a food sensitive cat can eat or if a particular ingredient is to be avoided for preference reasons, such as no gums. Cheeser already had a personal spreadsheet that she had been using for her cat's multiple food sensitivities. It was just a matter of taking that spreadsheet and getting it usable for others.

The result is this --> Wet Cat Food Ingredient Chart

Need a chicken free food? Seafood free? Chicken-, seafood-, gum-, grain-, and montmorillonite clay- free or some other combination of ingredients? Use the handy chart to find suitable foods :)

There are 4 tabs (pages) of the spreadsheet. Please take the time to read each page to fully understand how to use the spreadsheet and about the filters. Even if you're familiar with using spreadsheets, please read the "how to guide" first. Google Sheets works a little differently from Excel and other similar programs. Cheeser and I have gone back and forth to make the "how to guide" as easy to understand as possible with pictures. It may take a bit of time to get the hang of using the spreadsheet even with the "how to guide".

Things to note:

  • Only wet foods that appear to be 100% nutritionally complete and currently available in the US are listed.
  • The spreadsheet does not list every single brand available nor every single variety within a brand.
  • The spreadsheet is not a complete list of every single possible ingredient allergen.
  • This is not an official TCS project nor is it endorsed by TCS. It's just a labor of love from a couple of forum members who got together to pool their data and technical expertise, with some much appreciated feedback from some of the staff members in an unofficial capacity.

Cheeser and I hope this chart will be useful to others :) There are charts with nutritional info out there but no chart, that we know of, for ingredients that are possible causes of sensitivities in cats. We've gone over the final spreadsheet numerous times and hope we caught all the typos and formatting issues but if something needs to be fixed, let us know :hellocomputer:
Hello! I have a cat with a history of struvite crystals, so I'm really careful about his diet. I'm also a software engineer! Would it be ok with the creators if I built a mobile-friendly web app that uses data from this amazing spreadsheet? I'm thinking it would be really helpful for people in pet-food stores, with their phones in hand, who need a quick way to determine which wet food brand might be appropriate for their kitty's needs. The spreadsheet is fantastic, but as a software engineer I yearn to build a ~~pretty~~, mobile-friendly user-interface for it!

I will NOT charge people to use the app, and I will NOT claim the data as my own (although I would certainly like to add data for international folks!)

Do let me know LTS3 LTS3 and cheeser cheeser what you think about my creating a non-spreadsheet, mobile-friendly front-end for this incredibly useful data!

I was able to find your post again but haven’t seen any update. I’m really interested in an app that could be used at the store when purchasing cat food. Were you given the ok to create it? 🤞 I have 12 indoor cats and have tried for hours to find a decent wet and dry food for them....some are overweight and need special diet dry....

thanks

Even better than a app wich has to be installed, you could have a Wikipedia type website that everyone could contribute to. Then you would have information for pet foods that are not nessasarly available everywhere. And have a chatroom or forum available too.

I personally HATE installing a bunch of different apps for things that are just as easily found in a web browser which does everything.

Hi, Babypaws — I still haven't heard back from the spreadsheet creator. I'm almost done creating a mobile-friendly web app (NOT a downloadable mobile app) for the spreadsheet. I'll post the link here when it's done. If the spreadsheet creator considers this a violation of their stipulation not to republish the spreadsheet, I will take it down.

Stay tuned!

It is telling me all access to spread sheet is denied, so how do i get this spread sheet?

They are two totally different things. People need an app in the store, not a Wikipedia page. With no much information it does need to be on Wikipedia too though.
