Exactly a month to the day of his surgery, we took Charlie back for a follow up to his original follow up (where we learned he had a UTI.)

The vet couldn't get much urine for the urine test BUT was able to get enough to rule out any infection/remainder of a UTI. So Charlie's got a clean bill of health there!

He also said Charlie is healing beautifully and that at this point, the risk of strictures is "slim to none." (Poor vet probably knows I've been obsessing over this fear x.x)

Charlie DID pee for them when the vet was feeling his bladder, he said his bladder feels palpable and soft and I don't remember if it was his bladder or kidneys (i think bladder..) that he said was small? (i could be messing up words there) so all of that is good!

He still wants Charlie on the prescription wet food for another month to be on the safe side but he said if all goes well for the next month or so with Charlie, then we can most likely stick to a yearly vet visit instead of taking him in every so many months to keep track of uti's and stuff!

My biggest stressor at the moment is that Charlie is still peeing small, though. The vet isn't worried, so I know I shouldn't be worried. But of COURSE I am.

Anyway here is a picture of the lil gremlin for you all!

He looks awesome!!!
Thank you!

He's behaving pretty normal, save for weird pees.

He's also still not drinking MUCH water, which I'm concerned with and trying to figure out how to resolve as the water in food only seems to be going SO far.

Yesterday, after the pee at the vet, he must have gone in his litter box about 6 times or so and did very very tiny pees followed by nothing at all. However the LAST time he got in, he did poop. So I'm wondering if maybe he was trying to pass poopage, because he seemed to calm down after.

He spent the night in his pen again (after being free ALL day mind you) so that I could moniter his pee pee a bit better since he was peeing weird yesterday, still small, but I do see pee - one looks bigger than yesterday.

With the vet giving him the clear on the UTI, I don't really understand WHY he's peeing like this still. The vet also pretty much ruled out strictures, plus he IS peeing even if it is small amounts.

I'm THINKING it's his water intake. But I might call the vet tomorrow if it stays this way.

Called the vet. The one I spoke with doubts it's strictures, since they were able to make him pee yesterday and he is peeing (however tiny) - but she does think maybe it's just stress induced from the vet visit OR his lack of water in take, so she suggested maybe giving him a lil more gabapentin to see if that helps. He's not thrilled with that idea.

If it’d happened to me, I might not drink a lot so I wouldn’t have to pee a lot either! That being said, he looks a lot better.
Fair! Haha, I probably wouldn't either!

And thank you!

He's acting more and more like himself. I did notice a slightly bigger pee in his box today so maybe the gabapentin idea isn't a bad idea.

He plays a bit, still making good jumps. Looks like our biggest issue is lack of desire to drink water.

I ordered a NEW water fountain and a new enclosure litter box we can put close by temporarily so that he has easy access to a litter box when he's loose (it's REALLY nice, has shelves on top of it and everything.)

The new water fountain is white, I'm hoping that gets him drinking since he seems hesitant of the other one which IS black and I'm thinking maybe he's seeing shadows or something when he goes in to drink from it? Either way I wanted a fountain specifically for the cat room anyway so fingers crossed he likes the new one.

I also bought the gremlin a few different crunchy urinary tract health treats, so wish me luck that he likes one of them! He's SO picky.

Here's another pic of him from last night, this time posing =D

You might try a couple of water sources, one of them at some distance (even 5 feet can help) from his food bowl. SOME cats do not like food near their water source. My thought is that instinct makes them aware that food too near water can cause contamination. When I moved Hek's (my girl I lost early this year) bowl away from her food, her water intake almost doubled, for whatever reason. Stax, my current boy, could not care less. But, it's an easy thing to try.

Will he eat his wet food if you add water to it? That’s one way to increase water intake - a tablespoon to one can of food can really help.

I'm so sorry for your loss!!

None of mine ever really seemed to care much about food near their water, but I've been trying over night to just leave water down for him in his pen instead of also leaving his dry food. Doesn't seem to make much of a difference.

He was, but now he's kind of snubbing it. He'll lap a little, then kind of go 'eh' and leave it alone. Today he's uninterested in wet food in general, but he ate a bit of the dry when I put it down for the other cats. Right now I have him in his pen with his wet food and the water so I'm hoping he stops being grouchy about being in his pen and eats a bit.

Anyone know any other ways to get water into him? I def do not trust using a syringe >.<

Purée treats or baby food? They have a high water content. Does he seem dehydrated at all? He’s looking pretty good but if you’re worried you could ask the vet about small amounts of subq fluids to keep him hydrated and see if that increases his output. Healthy cats aren’t big water drinkers, especially if they are getting their moisture from wet food.

How frequent and what size are the pee clumps?

So tuesday was his vet visit, he was peeing fairly normalish and the vet got him to pee by palpating his bladder - ruled out a UTI with testing and he IS peeing so the vet says strictures are slim to none at this point. Talked to a different vet at the office yesterday who suggested it might just be a flare up from stress at being at the office and to give him gaba, so he had that yesterday.

He DID just lap at his wet food with water just now.

Pee sizes are about the size of my pinky nail and he seems to only go if I encourage him to go to the box. He doesn't cry/isn't blocking again, so we're thinking it's lack of water intake.

Might try the puree, he does like those!

Hopefully will see more urine soon, since I just saw him lap up some liquid food

We had some pee last night, little bigger than before - so I count that as a bit of a win I suppose lol

I THINK I was putting too much water in the wet and he was snubbing it - I tried your idea of a table spoon in a churu treat and he licked/ate the whole thing - tried it again in some wet food and he ate a small bit of it, so I'm thinking I'm gonna stick with the tablespoon since that seems to be a small enough amount to where he's not disinterested.

Still haven't seen him directly drink from water bowls though.

He did play a bit last night!

LOL, guess who just made a liar out of me, and pulled/pushed his water bowl to the other side of the kitchen?
Cat's will do that!

Charlie did have some decent pee today, still not HUGE clumps but bigger than nail size. He did the whole 'in and out' of his box thing for a bit again, which of course worries me when he does but he still released a good amount of urine, I think.

Still not drinking much, so I'm still giving him a packet of churu (one in the morning, one at night today) with a tablespoon of water in each - which he eats/drinks ALL of.

I'm just really worried about doing that since the vet REALLY doesn't want him eating anything that isn't urinary tract specific =( I'm terrified i'm going to create a situation, but at the same time I can't have him dehydrating. >.<

I'm hoping tomorrow when the purina pro UT food comes in that he'll eat and we'll start seeing better urine

WELL!!!!

This morning I cleaned his box out and we had several still small pees, BUT bigger than pinky nail size! Some runny poo, but one good solid poop too!

So I'm happy about that!

Then I noticed after nomming when I let him out of his pen, he DRANK SOME WATER!!!!

THEN the wet food/treats/other fountain i ordered came in and he was a FIEND for both of the treats I ordered (both urinary tract health ones!) and he drank ALL the liquid (and ate a bit) of the beef flavored purina pro plan urinary tract wet, so at least I know he likes that flavor AND he ate/drank a bit!!!

All in all, I'm really happy today with how he's doing.

Oh, and he enjoys playing with his ducky flappy toy!

What a handsome boy. :lovecat2:
Truly, he loves to model for me haha
