Charlie's acting weird. I don't know what to do.

Yes.

She said he'll be fine until we can get him in, assuming of course we take him in tomorrow. So the plan is tomorrow to take him into our actual vet for the surgery - which I'm being told is usually not too bad of a surgery.

If any of you are the praying sort please pray for Charlie or send positive thoughts.

His surgery could be complicated by the broken catheter which makes the surgery 50 50. If it is unsuccessful he may need to be put down.

Surgery was a success. They removed the blockage and broken piece, however there was a tear in his urethane which poses a threat if it doesn't heal right. The vet upped his chances from 50 50 to 40 60 though, and he IS a young and tough cat so I'm praying he heals well enough to come home

Spoke to the vet today. Charlie is doing good. They say so far his recovery is going well.
The biggest threat to him right now is, when they remove the catheter, that strictures might happen. So the plan is to keep the catheter in as long as possible within the budget I have (i get paid on the 12th and have 3900 on care credit) - we're shooting 10days, which is what he thinks Charlie needs anyway.
We're thinking I will be able to cover him staying there, but if we can't we'll try and make plans to move him to our vet. But ideally and most likely they will keep him there the full 10 days to ensure proper healing.

He isn't OUT of the woods, but things are looking better.

The vets and techs there are amazing, too. They had two of their doctors working on him and I know before the surgery he sat down with like a bunch of other vets to discuss the best course of action, I know my boy is getting amazing care.

Thank you all! I've been constantly checking in on him and every report has been good. I'm of course still worried, but I truly believe he is in the BEST hands. This vet is absolutely AMAZING and I feel very blessed to have found them.

UPDATE:
Charlie is doing amazing. We went to visit him today and he finally ate about half a can of food! The vet is talking about him possibly coming home in a day or two. Right now he wants to check his red blood cell count because it was a lil low but he says he's not too concerned about it, he just wants to watch it. He's in such good hands, all the vets are super nice and the techs are wonderful too. He was a little spooked when they first brought him to see us, but after about a half an hour he relaxed and just enjoyed about an hour and a half of cuddling with my mom and I. Purred a bunch, ate some noms. He didn't like when they took him back, though! But soon I'm hoping he'll be home with us again!

So he was badly blocked and they were unable to remove the obstruction. They were however able to drain him and give him antibiotics and what not. The catheter however broke off and is stuck in his penis (the poor vet... i think she thought i would blame her but i swear she was so sweet, they were all REALLY nice at this place) but they said i got him in on time, but surgery will be needed. On the bright side this should also be preventative going forward too

He lived, recovered--it was expensive....we set up a payment plan and I paid the credit card also in payments. It is one of those awful things that you have to act immediately on, and you know it won't be cheap, but when all is said and done, you'll be glad you did the right thing, even if it was hard at the time. Your kitty will appreciate having more happy days with you.

I'll forever be thankful to S silent meowlook for urging me to take him! The vet said had I waited until 8 AM, Charlie would have died. He was SEVERELY blocked. Was awful!!

Just to update!!

Talked to the vet. Charlie's red blood cells are up!! (this is great news.)
He is eating, too! (We brought him a blankey and toy from home so maybe the smells helped?)
They are going to pull the catheter out a bit today to see if he can urinate on his own, so hopefully with luck he will be home soon!!

UPDATE again!

I talked to the vet around 1 for an official update from him and he said if we want, Charlie could come home today. We're opting to let him stay tonight then we'll see how he's doing tomorrow and decide from there. However he DID opt to not take the catheter out a lil. He said he wasn't too concerned with Charlie not being able to urinate on his own, so the more he thought about it the more he thought it would be better for Charlie's overall healing if the catheter stays in the full ten days.

I did call tonight to get my nightly update, however, and the tech said he's doing good. He's nibbled at his food, but he's not peeing as much as they would like. Which they had stopped giving him fluids, and he's not really drinking water (likely stress related) so idk if they will put him on fluids again or not, but the tech said the doctor did NOT have a concerned tone and that Charlie is otherwise still doing good.

I know just how difficult it is to drive in the night on a weekend long distance to heaven knows where: VERY glad you heeded advice and leapt out the door. Cats can be so hard to read: their messages are often subtle. It is very hard to stay calm and drive a long way (thought it sounds as if you had a helper: hooray for that saint) b/c you are at the same time freaking out about your cat and trying not to. If any veterinarian is reading this: we need you, out in the sticks! Read your James Herriot and get out here! I am learning a lot from this thread, having never had a kitty with a urinary blockage...Silent Meowlook, you really came through on this one!
