⚠GRAPHIC PHOTO BELOW⚠

Hello, my cat got spayed on August 2nd and it got infected and the stitches opened up so we took her back to the vet on august 7th. They gave her two staples to close it up and an antibiotic. It’s been 2 days and there’s some brown wet liquid, i’m not sure if the stitches have opened and if this is an emergency. I’ve attached a photo below.

Any advice is appreciated, i’m taking her to the vet on aug 14 but i’m not sure if i should go before then

You might call your vet and get that picture into them first. Has she been taking the antibioyic ok? I put mine in a bit pf lickable treat such as Delectable Lickables in the stew flavors. Two days is really just when the antibiotic starts to work, so they may want to give it a few more days. The wound looks pretty good to me, it's not swollen or red. some drainage is fine if it is not white/green/yellow. In fact since it was infected it may be draining a little now. You could ask if you could wipe it with a clean rag and water and apply a little antibiotic salve (without pain killers in it) or apply a spray cat wound cleaner found at farm supple stores such as Tractor Supply or Orschelns. (Make sure you spray it on something to apply it first, the spraying sound scares cats!)

I would go before then. I don’t know that I would go to the same vet that put the staples in.
How is your cat acting?
I wouldn’t touch the area to clean it. The staples hurt.
