I have a 6-year-old male (and neutered) Ragamuffin with rabbit-like underbelly fur but a slightly more coarse top body fur. Is this normal?
He's well-combed every day to remove dead fur.

Thanks!

Upon googling a little bit more, this might sound like the guard hairs?

Hi! I have no clue! I didn't even know of such a thing as guard hairs. But, I did want to respond to your post because it will bump up your post to the top and maybe enable others to see it and offer their input. I'll be curious what they say!!

As long as the hair doesn’t feel brittle or dry, and he doesn’t have any dandruff, it’s perfectly normal, yes :>

Some brushes can cause fur to feel more rough, though, as can brushing fur dry, as opposed to using a detangling/conditioning spray as you brush, as it can cause static to build up in longhair cats, especially those with fine hairs.
