The vet said to try upping the dosage of prednisolone. As they assume he has cancer. Found a mass in his intestines last month. He has had 3 or 4 extra doses. He went from 5mg once a day to two. But yesterday morning I think missed the dose as I found one on the floor after breakfast. Two of my cats are on the meds.

But he seems weaker then before and his 3rd eyelid on one eye has been showing on and off. They wanted him to double for a week. Then 1/2 dose after that.
I'm concerned its the medication or the weightloss causing sleepiness?

Hi. I take it that since the mass was found last month, that is when the vet started Pred? What made the vet decide to double the dose?

Was he OK before you increased the dosage? Has he seen the vet at all since the Pred was started? What kind of testing did they do to identify the mass, and has there been any additional testing done?

What you are describing are not typical side effects. It is possible that your cat cannot tolerate it, as is the case with any med when it comes to certain cats. Pred suppresses the immune system, and that could have triggered some other underlying condition to erupt.

I think you have no choice but to contact the vet and tell them what is going on. I wouldn't assume anything at this point.

You could probably benefit from consulting with a specialty group which includes an internal med and an oncology vet. I know it would likely mean additional testing, but that might be in the best interest of your cat to do so.

No he has been on prednisolone 5mg for years years. They said we could try doubling the dose to see if that shrinks the mass.
