Cat urinates only once a day

I've had this situation for over a year. My female cat who used to be a feral until the vet determined she had pillow foot (Feline plasma cell pododermatitis (PCP) an autoimmune disease and she now lives in my home to be care for. I started noticing that her litter box stayed dry all day. It concerned me so I took her to the vet and he ran some lab tests and found nothing wrong - her kidneys were perfect and everything else came out better than normal. So why, after a year is this issue bothering me so much? Does anyone have a similar situation where their cat doesn't need to urinate but once every 24 hours? It's like she holds it in on purpose. There isn't one day that goes by where I can't relax until I see her go. I want my life back without this constant worry about the cat's toileting activities but it's not happening. I just want the worrying to stop so I can get on with my life. Any suggestions on how I can let this go?

While most cats go twice or more a day, it isn't at all rare to have one that only goes once. My girl was a once-a-day girl until she turned 12 years old, when it became twice. And, LORD, the size of her litter box clumps! I was digging out baseball-sized clumps of piddle! I think half of her abdomen must have been bladder! Just keep reminding yourself, "That's just how she is."

I agree with the above. Feeby was a once-a-day peer for most of her life. It even got to the point that I could practically set a clock to when she would go, 10:30A every morning. She also pooped then too. Guess her life/activities were too important to be wasting time in the litter box for more than that one time a day.

As my girls have gotten older, they've started using the box more frequently. The vet says kidneys and everything look fine and not to worry. (Who wouldn't worry??) One of my kitties is on steroids for IBD and she drinks more water and thus, urinates more frequently. Thankfully, she's not developed diabetes.

Thanks so much for that info. Meezie is soon to be 11 but she's been a feral all her life until I took her in a year ago because of the auto immune disease pillow foot. Your story helps a lot and like yours, when she finally goes she could fill a pond. I Really appreciate your comment.

The problem is Meezie is already 11 and doesn't urinate but once a day. Getting older isn't working but Thanks.

I just started here last night and don't know how to edit this post so I'm replying to my own post,"Cat Urinates Only once a Day." I wanted to add to this post that Meezie is 11 years old and was a feral all her life - she lived out in the yard all those years. She's not a young girl and was TNR's back in 2015 when she might have been 2 which would make her 12 now. She along with 36 other cats were TNR's back then - now I'm down to 16 ferals and 4 indoor kitties/cats. I love them all and wouldn't change anything I was able to do for them. Just wanted to add this part to my post. No clue how it's going to show up here. I just wish I knew how to edit the original post. Thanks for understanding.
Sincerely, Laura

As I said above Feeby was 15-16 before she started peeing more than once a day, likely brought on by her early stage CKD.
