Hello!
Our cat got his teeth extracted a bit more than 1 week ago and when we checked his gums we noticed some stuff that doesn't seem right.

On the left side, there seems to be some blue bumpy stuff. I can't find anything on Google about it. On the right side, it looks very inflamed and there seems to be pus.
We cannot reach our vet today.

Should we be worried? What can it be?

That is definitely concerning. Is your vet open tomorrow? Keep an eye on it over the weekend and then get your kitty to the vet on Monday. If you notice it getting much more angry red, bleeding, or pus oozing, then get to the ER vet right away.

Hello Stephanie
Thanks for your quick response.
I've mailed her, the office opens in the morning in 5 hours so I'll call her shortly after. We will monitor it closely.

Hi. I think the purple bumps may be suture? I suppose it could be traNot sure. On the other side, I don’t know. It almost looks like tooth.

Was this done at a dental specialist or a regular veterinarian?
Did they do radiographs before and after the dental and extractions?
How old is your cat?
The veterinarian needs to see this. They should get him in for a recheck right away.
Most of the time when dental procedures are done in a veterinary hospital, it is a technician doing the dentistry. And, depending on the state, an RVT is usually doing the extractions as well. Some are very skilled and some are not.

This was done at a regular vet. There is a full dental operation with radiographs planned on the 22nd of August at the clinic as well. We discussed it with the local vet and brought him in earlier since he went to though so much the past 2 months. He is 10.

I was just in contact with the vet and she told us to keep an eye on it. The blue/purple bumps are possibly from where she used the dental drill a lot. I can't find anything like this on Google though. And we need to check if his mouth smells. If it doesn't look better after the weekend, she wants to start up antibiotics.

I’m surprised she didn’t want to see him. Was he given any pain medication?

He has been on Temgesic since 5th of July, this is due to a lot of complications in the past few months.

Poor guy and poor you! I'm glad you reached out to the vet. I hope he improves over the weekend.
