Our super active Rosie the destroyer kitty was spayed last Thursday, 9 days ago. She’s been doing great until last night. She must’ve gotten her cone off and now she has a red inflamed, slightly oozing spot on her incision. What do we do? Epsom salt compress? I’ve text the vet but haven’t heard back yet. She’s acting fine until we put the cone back on and she absolutely hates it. Thanks so much!

That little bit of discharge doesn't look like a problem, especially so late in her"convalescence." The vet will most likely be removing the stitches in a couple of days anyway. Just keep it clean by wiping it a bit with a warm damp cloth and keep the cone on even though Rosie doesn't like it.

Oh thank you so much for your reply!! I’ve been worried sick! She’s been completely active all day! Just mad about her cone. Again, thank you so much! Just so crazy that she did that over night!! The incision site looked so good last night!

Yes! I grew up on a farm and we always had outside “barn” cats. They got cat food and that was it. No trips to the vet and they and their kittens were around for years. 🤷🏻‍♀️
