It's been day 7 and my cat often wears her e-collar but at times she takes it off by herself and I caught her licking the incision but I managed to stop it. I let her walk around the room since she hates being confined in the cage. And today I just noticed a tiny gap in her incision and redness around it. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? So far there's no foul odor or any discharge. We went to the vet two days ago and they said that its healing but she needs to be monitored to avoid from more licking or anything.

Hi and welcome to TCS! Did the opening occur after she was seen by the vet? If so, I would just send them a pic to show what it looks like now and see what they say. You could consider getting her a onsie to wear instead of the e-collar. It would prevent her from licking that area, and that might be all you need to let it heal correctly. But, I would send a pic to the vet anyway, just to err on the side of caution.

The gap opens like two days after the visit and now it just got wider and there's a milky fluid in the gap, so I'm guessing that it's a sign of infection maybe. And I'm taking her to the vet now. Thank you so much for replying! I'm definitely going to get her a onesies

let us know what the vet says!
Ok thankfully there's no infection! Thank God! The vet said that the gap is only on the surface and that it will heal itself. I just need to keep monitoring her, so she won't lick on the incision anymore. I put on a baby onesies on her as recommended. Hopefully she will get better soon.
