I've used the same flea medication with success many times. Generic frontline plus. For some reason this time, I noticed my cats hair and skin looks a little different. Some of my family members say they've seen her scratch the area. I've never had this problem before, could it be the medication or scratching?

I don't have an answer for you, but it is certainly possible that the redness is from scratching if something is bothering her.   It could be a reaction to the medication where it was applied, but she may also be scratching other areas.  Have you been able to check her generally to see if there are any other areas of redness?   How long is it since you applied the Frontline Plus?
