Essential oils are toxic to cats and can be fatal. Cats' systems cannot process the oils, no matter what kind. Please do not use EOs with you kitty.
This was in reference to CBD oils someone is suggesting. I noted in my comment I don't think this is the right route right now for my cat.

Did you use the new Revolution with sarolaner? It would be the newer formulation as opposed to the old one and is linked to cases of neurological problems. I know that you said it was two months ago, so maybe that time frame does not make sense.

Side effects:
Possible side effects of Revolution Plus may include lethargy, diarrhea, emesis, eczema, skin lesions, anorexia, pruritus, conjunctivitis, sneezing, administration site hair changes, or administration site lesions. Sarolaner, one of the ingredients in Revolution Plus is a member of the isoxazoline class. This class has been associated with neurologic adverse reactions including tremors, ataxia, and seizures. Neurologic adverse reactions have been reported in cats receiving isoxazoline class drugs, even in cats without a history of neurologic disorders. Use with caution in cats with a history of neurologic disorders.

I'm guessing it was the newer one but I can't say for sure bc I don't have the package anymore. But yeah I was reading about this last night. It really scared me. I used to think Revolution was so safe. But I havnt used it in years and didn't realize they had this new formula. I thought I was doing a good job protecting everyone from worms, earmites and fleas.

It was about 2 months ago and I like to think it's out of his system but I don't really know without speaking to someone who has more knowledge on.

The vet did call me with with results of the spleen and there's nothing significant there other than it looks like there is some sort of possible infection not coming from the spleen but the blood. He thinks from the intestines area.

So I have 3 options.

1. Spend $3000 on a scope and biopsies of the lower intestines.
2. Steroids
3. 2nd opinion and or Neurologist

Note that he told me he doesn't want to do the steroid if I take him somewhere else bc it will mask the problem.

I'm chosing to take him to this other place I hope can help me. They told me they would review the records and make a choice if it should go to Internal Med or Neurologist. That right there already lifted a weight that they will actually do that for me. So im waiting now. It could be 2 weeks before I get there. I hope not bc Oliver feels really crappy but let's see.

Didn't you say a sedative, or perhaps some pain meds, helped? Can they prescribe one or the other to help in the meantime?
That's a good question. I have gabapentin but it made me think he felt worse on it. But maybe I'll give half the dose tonight or 1/4 see if smaller helps.

They gave him a sedative to take that aspiration. I told the vet how this made the shaking stop. I wonder if there is something else like that but not as strong he can take at home or if Gabapentin is the only option. I know there's another pain med that starts with a B.

Butorphanol, perhaps? That is what Feeby was given for her ultrasound, mostly to calm her for the belly shave. The only other 'B' I can think of is buprenorphine. Ask about both and how they work.

Ok tomorrow when they open. I'm hoping I get the appointment for him faster than i anticipate and that he isn't suffering too bad. I honestly don't think it's painful but more like he's sick and uncomfortable, he seems exhausted, and has anxiety bc he doesn't know what's up and is sick of me.

I think you are making a good choice for as much as this is all become quite confusing. For one thing it will be a consultation and you can ask a lot of questions but you do not have to proceed with a treatment that you feel may not work so at the very least it will not be as expensive and you may get some answers.

:yeah:
SO glad you might get to see this specialist. Sorry about mentioning the CBD thing…agree w/ everyone here (and you) there is something else happening, was just trying to think of anything to temporarily ease the tremors. I did read one VERY scientific report online about cats trembling due to colon having a spasm or blockage, but really believe in you, and where you are headed w/ your dear kitty. Best of luck, SOON; maybe you both find relief and answers.

I am not going to belabor the Revolution Plus point, as it well may not be the cause of what is happening. If you need to contact them, there is information at the bottom of this page.

Please let us know what you find out.

So sorry for the long gap inbewteen the post but I waited so long to get the blood results back from the new vet. They told me they called and emailed but I guess they had a wrong number on file and I never got the email.

Anyways he has Toxoplasmosis. Which is a parasite that can cause temours and neurological symptoms. Along with fever weight loss and appitite loss. So it's kind of making sense all of this.

I haven't fully dived into this to research bc I am trying to not spiral like I usually do in these situations.

So I do have other cats. One is a new one that was living outside. I never thought he would come in but 2 months ago he did so I'm guessing he might of got from this cat. Or I do get a mouse here and there and I've seen Oliver with them in his mouth so he could of gotten from that. The last one I saw was over 6 months ago but who knows.

It's my understanding that most cats have this in their life but won't show symptoms unless their immune system is down. They eventually build the antibioties and then are ok. So could there be more to this. Yes I hope not but there could be something more serious that caused him to react this way. His blood brother did have to be put down recently out if no where with Cancer so maybe the sadness of the death was enough to make his system comprised? I don't know.

I'm a little not sure if I need to get my other cats tested and treated. I made the appointment anyways but all the vets were like if they don't show symptoms they are fine.I just don't want to treat and then Oliver get reinfected. He will be in antibiotics for 4 weeks. Which I started today.

Maybe someone knows more about. I'm clean about the litter box and scoop 2 times a day but I buy expensive cat grass litter and bc it maintains its power for so much longer than clay I keep it for over a month. I of course am buying new stuff so everything is really clean. But again my understanding is it's not like Coccidia or Giardia but I don't know these vets by me honestly just aren't totally with it.

Thanks for this I appreciate it. I am worried that he does have something more wrong with him bc he is just not well. But I just started the antibiotic and with a parasite it takes time I would think. I hate seeing him shake. Makes me afraid the parasite is in the brain.
