Good luck with everything :) I REALLY hope this doesn't last as long as it did for Richard. It does take time and patience but I do believe this is something manageable!!

Yes, conjunctivitis (or inflammation of the eye, swelling, redness, discharge) all of those are categorized under each illness that the PCR panel tests for. So unfortunately it does not narrow down what your kitty has. Unfortunately the most "common" practice for vets is to call it "herpes" when in fact this diagnosis only applies to about 40% of the URI cases so the other 60% are something else entirely. The one thing I would be suspicious of is Chlamydophila Felis. You can google it. It is not serious but it starts with eye redness, eye discharge and runny nose or frequent sneezing. Then appetite loss, lethargy, and if it goes un-treated for awhile it can spread to other areas such as the lungs and cause a coughing/wheezing. Richard had the cough too and Chlamydophila can only be treated with ONE drug. Nothing else works. And this drug doesn't even kill the bacteria, it just disables it from reproducing so the remaining infection dies off over the course of 4-6 weeks. So if your kitty has something like this, no other antibiotic or treatment method will work.

definitely conjunctivitis but the cause is unknown. as I had said in a previous post, vets like to associate that with herpes every single time when in fact that is not always the case. I would be persistent and get the PCR panel because this tells you if it is herpes, or something else. herpes is just one thing it tests for. your vet wants to guess and prescribe antibiotics but if they are wrong then you will have to keep giving more medicine. The PCR panel allows a definitive diagnosis.

Talked to vet n he said the skin irratation below snowballs eye will take some time n healing because of how he kept havn recurrence of the conjunctivitis which he said he is certain is caused by herpes virus. He also is putting snowball on lactoferrin to help with skin issues n immune n said it will give him the omega 3 he needs. And a probiotic.Forgot the name. But can get it from him or on Chewy.I prefer Chewy.Be cheaper.I asked about any other supplements n he said not at this time.To take it slow n get him used to lactoferrin n the probiotic first. So thats the update. And as far as the PCR PANEL.Will get done if issue continues he said n other test also. And snowball acting sluggish he said probably is where the Famciclovir is not in system n his system is adjusting. That he may b experiencing little stomach upset.Shud subside in day or 2.If not to call him back n will get him for a vet check

I replied other day after I talked to vet.And not sure I replied in right areaBut I talked to vet n he said snowball was probably a little sluggish due to the Famciclovir going out of system. He said his system is trying to adjust. And the redness below his eye he said due to the conjunctivitis from the herpes virus ;it could take several weeks or more to completely heal. And he said he was certain it was herpes virus.Ok then.Let see what happens???He said if it comes back we will do further testing. And he said it probably will.Well I know the symptoms now.So first sign im calling vet n off we go.Me n Snowball. He also put him on Welactin .Something he said has omega 3.And put him on a probiotic.Forgot that name

Well I guess you have two options! You could try and see a different vet for a second opinion, or trust this vet and keep a close eye on the symptoms. If something flares up again I would run some tests like the respiratory PCR panel right away to avoid additional issues. :)
