Hey everyone, my cat Kylo has a never ending issue no vet has helped me get to the bottom of.

I've been bringing him to vets for years since he was a kitten and nobody does anything other than shoving kibbles at me that don't work.

I'm 100% sure my cat has food intolerances. He does well on grain free kibbles. However, he cannot handle any wet foods... I'm in Europe, so I'm not sure if this narrows down my options. He's had one of these episodes before where he had incontinence and blood was just poring out of his bum, it was when my parents disrespected my wishes while I was out of town and gave him cheap, full of grain kibble.

This time I was trying a new wet food that is grain and sugar free, and still it's happening again... I'm not sure what to do 😞 I've tried everything and his diarrhea is never cured.

I'm almost sure he has IBS or an IBD. When I brought this up they told me it couldn't be because he doesn't throw up or isn't skinny.

Hi. Are you saying that his diarrhea and bloody stools go away on this/these particular grain free kibbles you are giving him? If yes, I would suggest continuing with that food. You can try adding some water to it, so that is contains more moisture, like wet foods do. You can also look for wet foods that are as close as possible to the ingredients to the kibble. Either way, if the kibble - and any wet foods that are similar - work, I would let it go at that at this time.

He may have food intolerances, but if you can stop his issues with the kibble you are currently giving him, you must be tackling all/most of those intolerances.

As far as IBS/IBD, the only way to even remotely determine that might be it, would be through an ultrasound - things like an inflamed and/or thickened intestinal wall. And, sometimes the ultrasound doesn't show enough to be sure. However, not all cats have all the same symptoms, and so throwing up and being skinny doesn't necessarily have to apply.

I am also under the impression that you do have one food that gets good results. If so, go back to feeding that one food only. If that food is no longer working, then have you heard of the food for cats made out of insects? I know it's available in Europe, because I think it was available there prior to being available here in the U.S. I learned about it because someone had a cat who was allergic to just about everything out there, but could tolerate that. It is a dry food.

IF it's IBD, as noted above, you would need an ultrasound at the very least, and possibly even more testing. Most cats with IBD do need a special grain free diet, and also take some sort of steroid medication, along with vitamin B. Many cats with this do not vomit, but rather have diarrhea. If your Vet is not aware of this, then you need a different Vet. I know you said you have taken him to the Vets for many years, but have you taken him to different Vet practices, or always to the same place? If the same place, maybe it's time to find a different practice, if possible.

I've been going through the same problem since August with my cat. She's had blood tests, scans, fecal tests all have come back normal. She's not losing weight, not lethargic or vomiting so my vet doesn't think its IBS/D. As the blood is bright red my vet suspects its from the colon. What colour is your cats blood.

I am now feeding mine Royal Canin gastrointestinal food and Animonda Vom Feinsten Pure Turkey and it seems to be helping. As my cat doesn't drink water I feed only wet. I'm in the UK and Zooplus have a great variety in food.
