Cat peeing in random spots

I have a cat who's been randomly peeing in our air vents. She has also made it a point to do it right infront of me. Im bringing her to the vet to make sure there are no medical issues but does anyone have any suggestions if it's not medically related on how to stop this? We have 2 boxes with 2 cats and ive seen the one who is peeing using the litter box. I don't notice any foul smell from her urine or any other strange behaviors.

Get the possible medical issues out of the way first.

Aside from that, where are these vents located? Do you live in an apartment? Basement critters that she can smell whether or not you can? Mold? Outside stray cats? You kind of have to investigate all the possibilities of what might be prompting this in order to have any idea about how to stop it.

Btw, I am not an advocate of cats doing this type of thing in front of a human for a particular reason, but maybe she is trying to tell you something.
