Cat obsessed with dogs collar

Every night when we take off our german shepherds collar, our cat will run to it and lick it and rub herself all over it? Anybody know why?

Is it leather? Some cats have a thing for leather’s scent, especially if it’s sweaty. Usually that is shoes but I can imagine the collar scent would be about the same. If it’s not leather, not sure.
