Cat is vomiting. Please help

My cat is 7 years old. 3 days ago he vomited immediately after eating. Vet told me to give him Ondansetron 2 mg. It caused diarrhea to him for a while. That day evening he ate food. Since two days he is not active but eating food. No vomiting and diarrhea. Yesterday night I gave him electrolytes and probiotics water. Today early morning he vomited pink liquid. I gave him ondansetron again. He didn't eat much but is hungry. Now he is having diarrhea again after giving him ondansetron. I will take him to the vet now. Can anybody tell me what is happening. It will help me to ask the vet in detail.

Hi. There are just too many variables to know what to ask about. I am not sure why you wanted to give him anything after only one session of regurgitation, so maybe there is more to the story?

It sounds more like he ate something he shouldn't have or bad food. When you gave him electrolytes and probiotics water, did he also eat anything then? Is there anything in what you gave him or in his earlier food that could cause a pink tinge to his vomit?

What else is going on with him?

I gave him the medicine after a day he started vomiting. Since 3 days he is not well. On first day he vomited only once in the morning. Second day he vomited agin. I felt something is wrong and called the vet. He told me to give him ondansetron. After giving it he had diarrhea for a while but no vomiting. Yesterday he looked weak but ate normally. Today morning he vomited pink liquid. He is hungry but didn't eat much. I forgot to say he is not drinking water. Yesterday I had to syringe feed him the him the electrolytes. He didn't eat anything else.
I feed all my cats the same food. Only he is having the problem.

I suppose it is possible that the ondansetron gave him diarrhea, but what if it has to do with something he ate - that caused both the vomiting and then diarrhea? Now his digestive system is feeling the effects from whatever that could be, and he doesn't want to eat the same thing that might have made him sick. Maybe the vet can give him an injection of Cerenia, instead of ondansetron, and give you more of it in the form of pills to take orally afterward? Cerenia injections only last about 24 hours.

I tried to feed him wet food. But he is showing interest only in his regular food. Not just now. He won't eat anything else other than farmina n&d chicken & pomegranate dry food. I am sure ondansetron gave him diarrhea. The same thing happened to my other cat also few months ago. They got diarrhea immediately giving them ondansetron.
I will ask the vet about cerenia.
And What is that pink liquid he vomited in the morning?

After only 3 days, it doesn't seem too likely that he has an ulcer or something like that which could produce a pinkish tint from blood. He could have eaten something that caused a tear somewhere in his esophagus or stomach, but I am not sure how that would tie in to anything else. If you kept any of the pinkish tinted vomit, or he vomits more of it, the vet should be able to analyze it to see if it is blood.

I don't think it is the dry food. May be the electrolytes & probiotics?
One of my other cats drank the water. She too vomited pink liquid in the morning. It looked just like this. After that she is fine. Is there any chance the probiotics and electrolyte sachet is bad?

Sure, that is definitely possible. But, there may be something else going on with him because he regurgitated his food before that, and then had diarrhea.

Just make sure you give the vet all the details you've given here. I honestly wonder if this won't turn out to be something he ingested that has caused most, if not all, of this. Maybe something other than his food, since the others eat it too. It may just be a matter of getting him over that and back on track.

If you need to syringe feed him water, don't give him the electrolytes/probiotic water right now, just in case something is wrong with it too.

I am not sure about that. You can ask if there is any value in doing so and see what they say. It is just so hard to know what is needed, since there isn't any real information to go on. I wish I knew how to help more.

It was a bacterial infection. Vet gave him antibiotic shots. And told me to bring him tomorrow again for blood tests (It was sunday yesterday the labs were closed. ) He is doing better now.

Now I doubt may be his esophagus is ruptured. May be that is why he is throwing up food immediately after eating. And this red liquid vomit. He is very hungry but not able to eat much.

I hope you can get ahold of the vet and tell them what is going on? It sounds like they need to check his throat and/or his stomach. I am so sorry this is going on.

He vomited food he ate now. And his stool also looks liquidy and solid.

It can be from food/liquid they eat/drink that has a red coloring to it. It can be from blood somewhere in the upper digestive tract. Those are the only two reasons I can come up with off the top of my head.

That food doesn't necessarily look 'red', but it is undigested which means he is throwing up right after eating. There are a bunch of reasons that can happen, but I am sure it is from whatever is going on with him now. Is the second picture his stool? Does it look like the color of his food, or do you think it is red-tinged too?
