Hi. Just want to make sure they said stomach and not intestinal.
So, if you are a cat, and you have to have cancer, lymphoma is the one to have. Lymphoma in cats responds the best to treatment and can cats can go into remission for a long time.
My cat has intestinal lymphoma and has been in treatment for more that three years.
Did they start your cat on any medications or discuss treatment options with you?
Yes stomach cancer and spreading a bit to the Gi. She was tested on Friday for her TLI/B12/Folate (TAM) and the results came back negative. They discussed having a biopsy and chemotherapy and steroids as an alternative. They said even with chemo it would add about 6 months of life. From what I understood if I'm not mistaken. I would love it if 3 more years were added as I think 12 is still too young. So far Ive spent 2k on exams and visits with everything coming back negative except the ultrasound. They are quoting 1500 for biopsy.

I'm so sorry to hear this news. Stomach cancer is a silent and highly undetected issue in cats. Sonny our GA cat had stomach cancer, and we never knew until the end. You would have never known, as there were absolutely no symptoms at all and all his blood work was normal. He was 13 years old (almost 14) when he became seriously ill and we found it on an ultrasound.
Whatever decision you make, just know you are doing the best you can for your furry kiddo. 💖🙏🏼

Hi. I am sorry to see this. The biopsy will tell you what type of cancer and if it is lymphoma. This information is only useful if you are going to go forward with chemotherapy. Otherwise steroids may help a bit. Once steroids are started a biopsy will not be as reliable.
if you don’t want to go the biopsy route, ask them if they think Chlorambucil might be indicated.

75 days ago I took my 11 year old cat to the vet because I saw that she was losing weight and she can't/won't eat any solid foods. She will only eat recently opened wet food. She struggles to eat like something is bothering her mouth. She won't groom herself. They took x-rays and blood work and nothing shows up in her results. I took her again 2 weeks later and they prescribed Mirataz but she still struggles and it makes her vomit. Hoping that she would improve I waited a month and took her to the vet again and they did a thyroid test which again showed up negative. The next test they recommend is a GI test. I already spent over $1000 and it's frustrating to see no improvement. Does anyone know what my next step should be?
I feel your frustration! If only they could tell us! My 21 yo CKD lady has periods of low appetite and I e learned that the reasons are varied: onstipation
