Cat had an electric shock. What should I do?

My cat had an electric shock an hour ago. He became unresponsive and I gave him CPR immediately. He blinked his eyes and woke up. And was very scared. After some time I petted him. He responded to it. Now he is walking around the house and also talking to me. What should I do now. Is he okay? I called the vet. He told me to bring the cat to the clinic. He said he will administer some fluids. He got very scared. Now taking him to the vet will make him much more anxious. Can I take him to the vet after 2-3 hours? Now what care should I take for him?

Do you know the approximate volts/amps of whatever shocked him? In any case, get him to a vet ASAP. Yes, he'll be stressed having to go to the vet, but it's the only way to be sure he's OK. Very scary situation..... Please keep us updated and that he's 100% OK.

He climbed on the fridge. He fall suddenly and was electrocuted. My mom alerted me immediately. He became unresponsive then I gave him CPR.
Now he is behaving normally. Purring to me and walking the house.. Sitting next to me.

How do you know he was shocked? Is there a shorting wire somewhere on the fridge? That would be strange since wires are not typically exposed. Edit: is is possible he may have had a seizure and appeared to be shocked/needing CPR?

It is very painful to say this. But after having shock. He didn't respond. His eyes were open. I thought he was.. Then I gave him CPR. he blinked his eyes and responded.

Wow...do you know what shocked him on the fridge? It does sound like he was definitely stunned and if he needed CPR, that is serious. Regardless, I would get him to a vet in the morning if you can. Also, I would call someone out to look at your fridge because an appliance should NEVER shock someone. I had a stove/range that gave me a mild shock once and a technician found a faulty wire. That should never happen. A small shock to us is a big shock to a cat. In any case, get him checked to make sure his heart is OK and there are no hidden effects. You will feel better knowing a vet cleared him and said he is OK.

I switched off the fridge now. And I won't keep the fridge accessible to my cats.
He was stunned means what happened to him?

Took him to the vet. It seems he got seizures and fainted. Vet told me to bring him again. I have never seen anything like that. Don't know why he got it.

When he fall from the fridge. He still was shaking like he got an electric shock. I placed him on the sofa. Even then he was shaking. It happened for a minute. He didn't move at all after that. I thought he was.. And started giving him CPR. May be he got fainted and came into consciousness after that. He looked around blankly some time. After about 15 minutes he responded to my touch and walked around the house. Sat next to me and asked me to pet him. Don't know what happened to him. That was very scary.
Please tell me if it is an electric shock they won't shake like that after removing from the electric object, right?

If your cat was shocked by an electrical wire, it is possible that there would have continued to be reactions. This all depends on the severerity and length of the shock. However, a seizure may present the same way.

If this were to have been an electrical shock, remember that if a human or animal is in direct contact with a live wire that their body is a conductor and can pass the electrocution to anyone who touches them with their bare hands or any instrument that might conduct, such as something with metal on it. I hope that this never happens again and that if there is an electrical problem that you can get it fixed for the sake of the safety of your entire family. If you have to move someone from a live wire, it has to be done with something like a piece of wood or plastic or something else which is non-conductive.

There are no loose wires or anything. That too he slept at the front side on the door. My other cat also slept with him on the fridge. My mom told me the other cat jumped down immediately and ran from there after he fall from the fridge. She said they both were not touching each other.
It seems like a seizure because he was acting normal after some time like nothing happened.
Anyway, I am not using the fridge now. I will call a technician soon. And i won't keep the refrigerator accesible to the cats.

Do they always pee and drool when having seizures? Tinku didn't pee or drool. He only shook his body and legs.

If she seems like herself, she is probably okay. There can be residual, later reactions to an electric shock but you have taken her to the vet. If you notice anything that does not seem right, especially with her limbs, go back to the vet or call them.

What did your dvm say? Do they think it was a shock? There is no way for any of us to determine what caused this. If your fridge has never shocked anyone and there are no loose wires etc. it does not suggest a shock to me. You can have a repair person check out the fridge, and the outlet it is plugged in to, which I would do right away if you are worried about that. I hope your kitty is ok.
