Cat Eating!

Hello,

I have a 2 year old cat at home and I have noticed he has gain weight. We feed him regular dry food a 1/4 scoop in the morning and night. Mid day, we give him half a can of wet food. Please help & give suggestions!

What foods do you feed (brand, flavor)? How much does your cat weight?

and, what exactly is a scoop - a cup or some other measurement? Half of a 3 ounce can, or half of a 5.5 ounce can?

I wrote my first response in a rush, to expand.

In order to assist we need to figure out calorie content of what you are feeding and calorie need for your cat which can usually be roughly estimated by weight. Once we can calculate calories per day currently fed and caloric needs, you then have a basis to start from to adjust. Not all foods are created equally so there can be vast differences between brands and even flavors within the same brand line. Which is why we need to know specifically what and how much is being fed.

Also, cat tax of a photo of your cat doesn't hurt.
