I know that with 'actual' acne on a cat's chin they do say to brush it before/after cleaning the area, but to me that is a bit different than 'popping' the places. Maybe, it is not - what do I know??
Don't worry. I learned my lesson. I'm going to him because i want to heal her faster. But I'll be researching anything he tells me to do. If i had googled popping blackheads(which is what he showed me to do) i would have seen that its a bad thing to do.I know that with 'actual' acne on a cat's chin they do say to brush it before/after cleaning the area, but to me that is a bit different than 'popping' the places. I totally get the hesitation for most any med for a cat. But, they are not all 'doom and gloom', and I don't know what you read but prohibition to breathing is NOT common - not to mention that is what is called an anaphylactic reaction than can be treated with a quick injection to ward off the effects. You are way overthinking this, IMO.Is it possible that they'll give elsa antibiotics? I was reading online that some cats are allergic and can stop breathing while taking them. So now I'm terrified of what they'll give me.
I have my reasons for fearing anything medical. My mom passed 6 years ago. I had to rush to the hospital with her and see people shove tubes down her throat because she couldnt breathe. She passed away in our home when her heart suddenly stopped (she had pancreatic cancer.)I totally get the hesitation for most any med for a cat. If you don't understand what the vet is telling you, you HAVE EVERY RIGHT to ask questions, over and over again. That is your RIGHT as a cat owner.
I am so sorry. My sister (54) and my mom (81) passed away from pancreatic cancer - within 4 months of each other. The breathing, was no doubt, related to an accompanying illness. FWIW, both passed away at home without tube interventions.I have my reasons for fearing anything medical. My mom passed 6 years ago. thank you for your kind words. I know i am just feeding into my own anxiety. I am very sorry for your loss. My sister is 54 right now. She is still young in my eyes and vibrant. It's hard no matter the age of the person we lose, but it's especially hard when they are still young.I am so sorry. There is absolutely nothing silly about being worried. But you have to put things into perspective, as no one illness - much less many different ones - present themselves in the same way. I cannot imagine that your little girl is in danger! Keep the faith and be positive!!
He's just a regular vet not a specialist. I know it happened from a collar tho. It was soft and comfy but she would itch at it. When i bought her a new one i saw the blackheads for the first time. That's when i chipped her.Well, what counts is that you are getting it treated! Does the vet still want to consider this to be blackheads? Maybe more so likely to be caused by a food allergy? They seem to affect the head and neck most often.
He didn't recommend systemic antibiotics. He only gave me an antibiotic cream. He said to come back in a week if i don't see an improvement.Your cat could have an allergy to plastic or something that was in the collar. Do you use any fea prevention? The area almost looks surgical now. I would be very careful of doing anything with it at this point. But, it does look like your cat needs systemic antibiotics or something like that now.
