Hi Everyone: My vet has suggested this drug for my 16 yo girl. She is showing some signs of arthritis in her legs. She has some problems squatting in the litter box. Does anyone have experience with this drug? Is there anything to watch out for in the way of side effects? Thanks!

Cartrophen for arthritis in 16 yo

Hi. I know nothing about that med, but have you considered other things like glucosamine or chondroitin? Feeby (15+ yo) started having a limp over a year ago, and she was already confirmed to have some arthritis. I started her on Glyco Flex Plus, which contains the above two joint supplements as well as green lipped mussels. I give her one a day, it is a chew and rather big, so I cut it into about 4-5 pieces, which she usually eats pretty well. They can also be smashed up and put into wet food. It didn't even take a month of giving her this and the limp is gone and has never returned (so far - knock on wood).
