I actually took a litter box out of retirement for him. But maybe he disapproved of it. Or maybe, more likely, he still smelled Krista and wanted to replace her scent (or advertise his own.)Maybe he thought it was a litter box and he was trying to be considerate ?
That's the stuff!!!Like any good cat, this boy has multiple names. OC remains his Internet name. OC=orange cat. But I’m thinking Buddy is his outdoor name. Because every time I see him, it’s “hey Buddy! Follow me for food.” This morning, I had prepared his feeder—25% chicken, 75% turkey—and decided it was still too chilly out to leave his food. So I set up the iPad to watch the patio on the camera. I almost missed him. He came under the fence, looked around, and just as I’m rushing out with his loaded feeder, he had slipped back under the fence. “Hey Buddy, Buddy, come back for your breakfast.” And just like that, he reappeared from under the fence. Gave me a couple meows, a leg brush, and received some scritches before I set the feeder down for him.
Now his indoor name is still Meatball. First because he was solid with muscle like a tiny orange pit bull. But now because he’s getting a little round. But still very solid. But I hope he doesn’t get too big to come under the fence. I don’t want to leave a can for him on my porch. That’s a recipe for a nasty note on my door from management. Any rounder and I might call him Garfield.
I ordered the patio set and the self-warming pad. The pad should arrive tomorrow. The patio set next Friday.
I can’t find FF Classic turkey cases. Unless I want to pay 3 times more for the Poultry and Beef pack (because only 8 or 1/3 of the cans are turkey.) So I bought one of those cases to make sure I had enough turkey cans for a transition and a case of chicken to transition him to. I don’t get to see his poops. But we’ll take this slowly. I’m sure he’s fine with it. I’m sure the neighbors are feeding him chicken. I started him on turkey because that’s what I had leftover from Krista.
He just finished his breakfast at 8 am. And 9 am, he’s back for the dregs he left behind at the bottom of the feeder. He might be back once more this morning. Then he won’t come around again until about 2 pm. Unless he catches up to me on my lunch time mailbox check.
Last night I set out a dinner at 6. I picked it up untouched at 10. So he’s got dinner elsewhere. I’ll try him again for dinner a few more days. And I need to pick up an outdoor camera to see if he comes around at night. My current camera is pressed against the glass door inside. It becomes useless at night as the door becomes a mirror with night vision.
If there’s two things I’ve learned from playing Homescapes throughout this pandemic, it’s that it often takes time to level up. And little changes add up to big changes. The office wasn’t renovated overnight. And the deck won’t get all the attention it needs in two weeks. But this cat, Buddy, is already a happier cat having a regular breakfast and lunch stop now.
My friends have a grey munchkin cat named Tank. He’s adorable! That's the stuff!!!
Buddy. I like it. Hope his nicknames won't include Unit. I like Tank, though...it has a dignified ring to it.
Yeah, one step at a time and it TAKES time. He's going to enjoy the self-heating pad, I predict, and the shelter that the nice patio furniture provides, when he stops by.
He's probably pretty tolerant food-wise, if he's been living outside for awhile. *Any fresh, clean, good quality food is good food* and as long as he has the meats, he's going to be a happy Buddy.
Good lord, he's hungry today! He stopped by again at 10:45. Since I have 3/4 of a chicken can in the fridge from breakfast, I gave him another 1/4 can of chicken. Hopefully that holds him until lunch.Back again this morning!

He ate about 90% of the food at 8. Came back at 9 to eat the remainder. And he’s back again at almost 10 and I can’t imagine there’s anything left for this hungry boy.
If he's just out of kittenhood, he can probably handle quite a lot of food. Whether your wallet can, though -- THAT is the questionGood lord, he's hungry today! He stopped by again at 10:45. Low to the ground and built like a tank.If he's just out of kittenhood, he can probably handle quite a lot of food. Whether your wallet can, though -- THAT is the question
Tank is a great name for a grey cat. Especially a BIG grey cat. I'm not sure how it would fit a Munchkin, though?
Don't you know? He keeps it in his side pockets! This cat has a watch. I have checked his arms and legs and do not see one. But he has an impeccable schedule. It's nearly 2 pm and, like clockwork, he has shown up for his lunch.
They do! And UPS has started to deliver on Saturday now (but not Sunday). I’ve also been getting USPS package deliveries on Sunday.Except FedEx doesn't deliver on Sunday. Do they?
Tobermory is right. The way things are these days, you get it when you get it. Hopefully. Hoping you get it at a convenient time. I get a lot of deliveries at 9pm now. Because we're residential, we're on the last delivery of the day schedule. Oh well. Just glad to get it. I got a card from overseas postmarked December 14 two days ago. I'm waiting on a domestic delivery that was supposed to be here between the 15th and the 19th. It's Russian roulette.FF is fine. I don't think the turkey shortage will last forever. And if he does end up liking both chicken and beef, those 24 can variety packs are half the Blue Buffalo price.
I got a notification from FedEx that the patio set is scheduled to deliver on Sunday. Except FedEx doesn't deliver on Sunday. Do they? Monday is good enough for me.
Yeah, I get those, too, and yeah, you're right. Once I'm watching my murder porn and flanked by cats, though, it'll wait until morning. The silver lining of the pandemic is contactless deliveries. Rather than being hostage to their delivery schedule, they can leave it on my doorstep whenever they get around to it.
And yes, they usually deliver 9 pm or later here too. Instead of having to wait up to answer the door too late at night, I can sign up for text delivery alerts and they'll tell me when they delivered it.
