My big eyeopener was the hospital cat Oscar.  If you don’t know the story, google on it.  I will perhaps write next post about him and some other cats.

But in short. He was working in a hospital for senile dement patients. He was (is) not very friendly.  But he felt whom was dying, even when the personnel wasn’t aware. He run to the bed, layed down at the feets, and was there till the person was gone.  For me, whom sleeps extra nicely with my residents lying with me, there was no doubt on what he did: he helped them in the last passage, making it more comfortable, making they didn’t need to go alone on the last journey… The last working blessing.  They said he felt the smell of the dying. OK, but why be THAT interested by it??  Also, if there were two dying simultaneously, he run to the one whom has the most difficult dying…Even if he already lay with the first one, several corridors away.  Ie he assisted the one in the greatest need of help and comforting.

So for me it was clear.  IF he were a human active in the Catholic Church, he would be a hot candidate for a Saint. No doubt.

How is the Catholic church choosing saints to be among the many worthy candidates?
  1.  If they did miracles, or other great deeds of strength and Force.
  2.  If miracles happened, while they  prayed for them, to help others.
  3. If others prayed for help in the name of our candidate.  – Whom doesn’t need to be a proclaimed saint as yet, nor even a blessed.  This last is interesting: the Catholic church, although very touchy about false learnings and false saints, IS de facto accepting and eve encouraging prayers in the name of unrecognized persons.  If these prayers works – voilá – then we have our candidate for a saint…
Nice and well.  But the big hole is obvious:  This is ONLY for members of the Catholic church!!!  Preferably nuns, monks and priests, although there ARE a few laymen named for saints. Laymen whom preferably died marthyrdeath for the church and the beliefs.

But they DON’T name for saints Christians of other groupings, and not people of other faith.  And of course not animals.

So, myself,  being religious but not being Catholic, I strongly felt:  Im accepting the ideas and influence, but I don’t have any reason to take the whole package.   I do strongly believe, if there IS God, if there are saints, etc etc,  so there must be saints also in most of the other faiths too, and even some whom don’t have any regulated faith.  And yes, even animals – where Oscar is a strong, shining example.

Another point to the question “why pray to cats”.  I do strongly suspect more than one  firm believer, would strongly disagree with praying to God on the behalf of animals.   After all, they aren’t even supposed to have souls,  according to them.

 Or??

OK, question: do we have saints   among the animal and cat rescuers? Perhaps even some of our forumites?   Probably! Although Im not naming them.  Also, I think its not necessarily good for them to be named for saints too early.  As its with Nobel Prize holders – being the Prize holder tends to slow them down, decrease their creativity.

But I do have eyes open for animals whom are possible saints.

The problem is, some of them may eventually be made up examples…  But.

Here is a list:

Oscar from Providence, the hospital cat

Barney from Guernsey, the cemetary cat

Dewey Readmore Books from Spencer, the library cat

Rademenes from Bydgoszcz, the veterinary assistant cat

Ginny the dog, rescuer of many cats, and also Animal Assisted Therapy.

Masha from Obninsk, a homeless neigbourhood cat.  Her case is interesting: she did “only” one great deed that is recorded, the saving of a little child.  But she is homeless, even if the neighbours are helping her.  There is nobody to witness nor describe her deeds…  Save this 15 minutes of glory…   So here is my gamble, Im taking my chance she is a true saint anyway.

I will perhaps write more about these candidates,  depending also on reactions and further questions.

I know very well these  here are very unorthodox thinking and beliefs.

And I must put it in clear, this said and thought is as a strictly private person, not as a member of the team.

Even if I sometimes had hinted the possibility to pray to God and to these saints, to forumists in desperate situations, where there were few or no other meaningsful advices.

If anybody felt it as wrong, as hurting them and their feelings, Im sorry and Im begging for forgiveness. No harm was intended.

If I had two kontos, I would write such in my civilian konto...

I think the idea of Sainthood is nice as far as humans are concerned but animals don't need it IMO. I really believe that they are far, far above us spiritually already. They don't need titles like that. They lack so many of the shortcomings that humans possess. They lack pettiness, the need for revenge and they have a capacity for love and forgiveness that the human mind just cannot comprehend. They are here to help us become more like them- not the other way around. They are our betters in so many ways. They are so much more perceptive than we are- about everything. If they could talk, they could teach us so much- unfortunately, many people would still refuse to listen. No one here, of course!

Animals have souls. No one will EVER be able to convince me otherwise. Their souls are pure from the moment of their creation and always stay that way

If there have been animals in your life that you believe should carry the title of Saint or something similar then by all means, use it. They will never complain about it- especially any who have already crossed the bridge. They know how you feel and I think that they are pleased and perhaps a little humbled that you feel that way. If you had/have that kind of bond with a special animal, chances are good that he/she feels the same way about you.

Do we have saints among the cat/animal rescuers and the feral cat caregivers? IMO- absolutely yes but    will a church- any church- ever acknowledge these people and the work they do? I doubt it but who cares? I am a firm believer that the Cat Goddess is most certainly real and she knows who these people are and what they do for Her babies. She looks out for them, loves them, appreciates them and when the day comes for them to make their own journey across the bridge, I truly believe that She will come to take their hand and escort them across the bridge personally. I think that there are similar entities for other animals who will do the same.

I find it hard to believe that if there is a god he/she would think less of any living beings.  The fact that religions believe man was created in the image of god just means he/she is just as susceptible to human foibles as the rest of us.

So, yes, @StefanZ pray to any saint you wish.  I think many religions are short sighted.  Just because they may not think an animal can be a saint doesn't mean they are right.  In times of worry over a pet I think it would be comforting to know there is another on the other side watching and helping.

And having to choose between a human saint, or an cat saint,  I suppose its more near to ask for the assistance of the cat whom is a saint, no?   They do easier understand how it is.   Even if there are several human saints whom were very animal friendly.

After all, a part of the catholic idea of praying to Virgin Mary, = Gods Mother, or to one of the saints, is not to do it instead of praying to God.  The idea is, they being afreshy humans, totally humans from both daddy and mommy, understands better, and thus, can carry the prayers to God in the proper way...  Be our forceful representatives...

Although the tradition allows also the saints sometimes to do their own acts of strong Force.

And so, a cat whom is also a true saint, is a more reliable intermediare than most human saints...

If I live in Iowa,  I ask the congressman from Iowa help with to get an idea a proposal up to the Congress or the president....   And not the congressman from Idaho, even if theoretically I could do it. Especielly if he is known as a jolly good fellow.

Very true.  Animals dont NEED these saints nor be held for saints.  The question is, if we humans do need them.  If we accept animals as true saints, able to work miracles in this life and even from the beyond.

And I think we need all help we can get.   For really needs, or at least, for the peace of mind...

The tradtional religions dont think this way.  Although there are some, very few exceptions.  I have heard about a dog in medieval France, whom was locally held as a saint, accepted even by the Church, till the bishops realized it was a dog, not a monk. And forbade this belief. But locally the faith was known into the 1900...

Didnt Jesus said something in the style: " Im not coming to save the righteous, whom dont need my help, I´m coming to help the others, the sinners."..  No?

So the first question, whose were these righteous, whom dont need no help for their salvation??   And second; the christian religious dogm is:  we all humans are sinners, from the days of Adam and Eve, and thus, even the best of us need help from Jesus...

So again, whom are these righeous?   One answer could easily be: the animals... Because whom is there left?

Another answer is of course,  if we arent deeply believing christians, we dont need to take all this literally... (Even many believing christians accept som leeway.)

For example, the jewish religion concentrates on the everyday life, on good deeds, and so on. Because, what we think, nobody can control fully.  But what we DO, is noticeable and thus, what counts...  And thus, EVERY good person will get "salvation".

So cat rescuers do earn a lot of merits... aside of helping these our little sisters and brothers which is something nice and good by itself.

There are definitely more and more angelic and light beings here on earth at this time through human and animal vessels. I'm not too sure on using the term Saints but I do believe in my first statement. Many here at this time are actually called light workers . I am actually an angelic communicator (and yes, a light worker). I talk and communicate with angels and masters and also our source creator using my spiritual senses. Anyhow back to topic, the soul within the cats I do believe what is already been said in a previous post that yes they are indeed more pure. not to say their soul is more pure but their vessel here on earth has not been as tainted with as a human Vessel as been. Our souls within our human bodies are just as pure but here on earth illusions block most souls from seeing their truth . Truth does not lie in the vessel you see looking back at you in the mirror truth lies deep within . Your light . So yes the soul of a cat shine through a lot easier meaning they are able to walk on this earth using all their spiritual senses very easily . They know truth from illusion. I will give you an example I am surrounded by angelic beings, all of us here on earth have our angels but I know my particular protection here on earth is extremely strong the angels around me are everywhere. When I first adopted my two cats the angels weren't showing up for them yet it was as if they were letting them get comfortable but after a few days here in the house the angel starts to show them self to them in great number . I knew right away what they were looking at when they looked at me they as they no longer looked at ME anymore they looked around me, they looked to my right, to my left they looked above me they really were just watching all around me and I could tell they were seeing things that no one else could see and they ran they were a bit scared by the abundant number of spirits around me . After A few more days they became more comfortable with their surroundings .
When you question who are these righteous and holy left here on earth if humans are all tainted . I will go back to what I had said in the beginning we are all pure on the inside. we are all made of light. our souls have never changed or evolved overtime like our human vessels have here on earth. they have been guarded and untouched. it is just the human vessel that has been tainted overtime . So this is what most need help with seeing (aka what you say need salvation from). They need help seeing past the illusions to see truth. The light within us is still the purest light of our source creator, our Heavenly Father, and for us to see this we must look inside. not to any out side religion. not to any outside ,Saint'. not to anything of this world. the only thing that will show you your truth and your purity is if you look within your own self. Hope I stayed on topic enough, I guess I got a bit distracted like I said I do speak with the angels I speak with them daily and feel the direction of my post was more as what they want to talk about .
Babies are all up and begging for pancakes this morning so I guess this is how I will end my post but I could talk about this all day! I do know that we are all light inside. you are light. I am light. everyone on this forum is light on the inside whether you see here on earth with your human vessel, your human eyes, the soul and the light with all of gods children has always always always been untouched. we are all righteous .we are all holy. we are all exactly what our Creator our God our Almighty father in heaven has made us into From the very beginning. Yes some souls here on earth walk a life filled with service to others. Where as this is an extremely beautiful mission on earth, they are no more righteous then any other if gods children. we just have to look inside to see this. searching this earth for saints and for earthly materials and vessels won't find you your truth . it won't find you your answers .all answers are found within your own being. each soul here on earth has its own journey and it's own mission . So not all will the awaken to see this light. Not all will come to know the righteous and pure light that lives within them . their light is their truth but I do know this we are all light we are all pure and we all are all here as per creator has intended us to be at this time . I do not follow any specific religion I just know that my father in heaven wants me to live through the eyes of love here on earth and see all of his children for the purity that they are not the darkness that surrounds them
